Chapter 60: Melancholy

(Silver's POV)

Seems like this will be the longest night I will experience. We went to the old abandoned hotel building beside the big river. We halt at the nearby corner where the hotel is perfectly visible from our sight.

"So here are we." Ken said.

"Okay, let's start. Operation, Scan." I inform Aeris to scan the whole building so that we can analyze the structures and the location of the people inside.

'Operation Scan.' With its laser, it scans the building in three dimensions. It took a few minutes before Aeris finish scanning.

"Okay, we got the whole building scan, let's see where they are." The wide screen appeared in the windshield and projected the 3D images of the building. It stands 50 floors, where in there is one entrance and exit. The ground floor is for the parking lot of the cars. Electricity is not working is so with the elevators installed. The other side of the building is expose to the river beside it. The building is intended for renovation but because of modern civilization and it's far from the center, it didn't take any action and abandon it. There are ten armed men in every entrance of floors, which is the stairs itself. And the rooftop where the crowded people are there together with Jiro and others.

"Just like what we expect, they will try to ambush us from the very start." Ken said while studying the images.

"Well, what do you expect, their future is in my hands now, so they will get it no matter what happen."

"Geez, I think this is the biggest mistake in my life."

"So, you regret everything?" I told him with sarcasm.

"Not in my life that I regret something, believe me Silver."

"Of course I am."

"Okay, let's kick some ass."

The car with the fastest speed through the entrance of the hotel distracting the men in the vicinity and started to point their guns in the car that halt just infront of the stairs.

"Shoot the car!" One man commanded and they started to fire the car. They rained the car with their endless ammunition and gunfires. The man held his hand up to signal a cease-fire. The car was full of holes perforated it's body, surely no one can keep themselves alive from that ambush. The men approach the car and see if the passengers were alive, but nothing they confirm but a self-detonated bomb.

"It's a bomb! Get the hell out of the building." The man said but everything is too late, with just a few seconds remaining, the car self detonate itself that it wash out the whole floor together with the upper floors.

(Ken's POV)

The blast of the car was the signal that the first phase of the plan is going smoothly. The whole blast envelop the first ten floors of the building that made it shrink in rubble, but not damage the other floors so it still stand in its grounds.

"Silver, the blast is a success." I said in the communication channel that I wear in my ear so that we can communicate fast without any delays, it is also the one that I gave her in the captivity in her school a few weeks ago.

"Sure it is, but I regret to make Aeris a decoy, I felt pretty bad about it."

"Don't worry about it, we can customized or build other car after this." I encourage her.

"Sure, I like it. So, second phase of the plan is starting." She informed.

"Roger that." With their entrance and escape route is gone, they have to revise their plan and it will take several minutes to plan it. The next phase will start now, so with the cable I attached to the 39th floor, I do zip lining to get on the abandoned building. The impact shattered the glass windows where I emerge and land on the floor. With less noise, I cross the room and went to the center of the building, which is the stairs where the mafia men were gathered because of the blast a while ago. I hide in a post where I have the full scene. The other men trap below the floor is going to this floor. I have to gather majority of the group and lead them here.

"Silver, are you still there?"

"Ken, are you okay?"

"Of course, piece of cake, I'm here in my position. Second phase is on the run."

"Okay, I'm all ready for the next step."

"Roger that." I use the distraction of the blast to roam around the perimeter and implant bombs in the posts holding up the building. Besides handling a gun, I'm an adept on bombs myself. I learned these stuffs to my father. He was good at it when he was still part of the Realm. Now that all the bombs are in place and push the detonator so that the bomb blast, I went out of the floor in the same room I appeared and used the daggers to climb up in the cemented wall of the building.

I stop in the 48th floor and emerge in the broken glass wall of the hotel. The shattered glass alarmed the mafia men and charge towards me. I hold into my guns, place my index fingers in the trigger, and pull it off in the direction of my assailants.

"Enemy in sight! Shoot him!" A man shouted that give signal to the others to shoot me. But I used my agility and flexibility to dodge the incoming bullets. One by one, five bodies pinned down on the floor with bullets pierce through their body. More men are ascending from the beneath floors because of my appearance.

"How did he get here? Is he the one responsible in the blast at the ground floor?" I heard one man yelled, maybe one of the informant.

"How could that be possible? One man killing us all? Inform the others in the upper floor!" One man cursed and commanded the others.

"The 49th floor is block! We can't call back-ups in there!" The man informed as a smile is visible in my face. Phase 3 is success, that's Silver for you. The seconds pass and the more men are aiming at me endlessly. I take cover in the post and crawl to get a better aim, but they came rushing at me.

"Argh! Damn it!" I pressed my wounded arm as a stray bullet pierce through my flesh. I stand up fast and take cover on the nearby wall as the Insignia fire guns at my direction.

"Ken, are you alright?"

"Just a scratch Silver, I almost have them, you can go now, on the fourth phase."

"Okay, be careful, Ken."

(Silver's POV)

Ken already started the third phase of the plan. Just like what he did, I do zip lining to get to the 49th floor where I will engage to the high ranking of the Insignia. My landing alarmed the mafia men and distracted them for a split second.

"It's the girl! Get her alive, now!" The man commanded as they rush towards my direction.

"If you can, catch me jerks!" I held my two guns in my back and started firing at them while running around the vicinity.

"Stop running, you brat!" One man said.

"Not that fast, old man!" I responded as I take cover in the post. Ten lifeless bodies lie on the floor as they continue chasing me away from the center of the area. I came to a halt when I was trap in the glass wall and the men behind me. I put back my gun and face them.

"You're not going anywhere brat, just surrender to us." They aimed their guns in me as I held my hands up as if surrendering.

"Just like what I said, not that fast, old man." And a blast divert their attention and I used it to formulate my escape. I break through the glass wall and climb up in the building to the rooftop. The whole 49th floor washed out by the huge blast I planted in the floor area. I embed two daggers in the cemented wall that will support the ropes and keep me hanging in the air. I analyze the situation before I will charge again in the scene. The first ten floors sunk in the first blast and sealed their escape for the mean time. Ken is trap the Insignia men of the 11th and 37th floor and sealed them with the second blast. He climbed to the 48th floor and did the same thing. Now I'm finished in the 49th floor together with the men in the 50th floor and all that's left are the men in the rooftop and Jiro. All I have to do is ascend there and give them an attacking entrance. But that's absurd, they may have prepared it, surprising them, wouldn't give me the advantage, his life is on my hands now and I can't risk it. I need to think of a plan that will ensure the safety of Jiro's group. I need to secure his life before mine and even Ken's life. In the first place, it was my entire fault. I count the guns I have, daggers and explosives in my hands enough to take them all down.
