Chapter 39: Dangerous Attack

(Jiro's POV) 

Why does it have to happen right now? I know that Alexis can drive, but racing is a different world. What is she thinking right now? She is insane. Why does she have to do that for us? It's our own problem and she can't involve herself into this chaos.

"How long do you plan on waiting? We need to get started before we root in this place." Sakazuki interrupted.

"I know I'll get ready." I have to do something about it.

"Wait! I'll go with her." They look at me in surprise.

"But Jiro it's too dangerous--." I interrupt Meter nee-chan.

"But I can't leave her alone doing our job." I said as a matter of fact.

"But--."

"Nee chan, onegai (please), just this once." I said with sincere voice. She looks at me and then to Alexis.

"Ok, I understand. I will let you this time, and Alexis, please take care of him." Then Alexis just nod. The others just went to the bench and waited for the race to begun.

"Let's put on some clothes." She said then gets something from inside the car. A medium size luggage, as she took out a full body black leather suit with silver highlights. Then she handed me another one from the luggage.

"You might need this." I took it from her and put it on. It was tight but very comfortable, soft and flexi at the same time.

"And also, put this on, it will protect you." He handed me an identical helmet. I don't have the guts to speak to her, because maybe she's mad at me. And I can't blame her on that, I was so rude I didn't control myself from it. I hurt her, that's all I can say, and I need to apologize for what I've done.

"Get on."

"O-ok." I put on the helmet and seat beside her in the car. Like the last time I was in the same, place as now. And I can feel that my cheeks are burning just by the thought of that day, thank goodness I wear this helmet or else she will see that I'm blushing. We line up in the starting line before the race starts. A woman walks infront holding a checkered flag. Alexis switch on the engine then all the built in computers' been on. 'Good day Miss A.'

"Operation, Dangerous Attack." 'Changing attack mode.' After that, the features of the car suddenly change. Our seats move backward, the computers been push back and the windshield become a computer screen, 4 exhaust has been drag out and the engine's sound been change quieter this time. The flag girl rises up the flag and ready to release it. The tension is building up every second we wait. As if the time is slowly drifting, right infront of our own eyes.

"Are you not nervous." I ask to calm down my nerves.

"No, I do these a lot."

"What--?"

"Hold your breath." Before I can anticipate the next thing happen, I was taken aback when she step on the accelerator and sped up in just a split second.

"Whoah! I didn't see that coming." After I said that she slightly laughs, then I smile out of relief.

"You should get used to it, we have a long way to go. I look at her but her face become serious this time. I look infront of us, we are just a few meters away behind the Tzuzuhara hired driver. I stare at the speeding meter and it read 180 km/hr. That was so fast for a young age as us. How can she manage this from the impact alone? As if she was born as a racer.

"It's too fast." I just said.

"Not that fast, we have to advance before him."

"But we just are starting the race."
