You had no motivation to pay attention in class. Everything was drab, simple, and exhausting. Peering outside, you noticed how beautiful the blue sky looked. And then there were the green leaves swishing in the wind. But where were you? Stuck in what you considered the most boring place ever. School.

"Class, we have a new student. Can you please introduce yourself?"

"Lee Donghyuck, but you can call me monster, I mean Haechan," he bowed, and you looked up, cracking a small smile. You were super into Kpop, and the fact that this new kid who didn't know a soul had had the guts to make a reference was impressive.

"Alright, Haechan. There are a few empty seats, so just choose one and your desk mate can catch you up on the notes."

You returned to staring out the window and were so lost in your thoughts again that you didn't realize Haechan had chosen the empty seat next to you.  Great.  Now you had to pay attention and teach some new kid everything your class had learned so far.

"You don't have to worry too much.  I can catch on to things pretty quickly.  I'd just need to see your notes," Haechan spoke up, jarring you from your thoughts.  "What's your name by the way?"

"Y/N," you said softly.  "Um, don't worry about it.  I can help you catch up.  We haven't done much anyways.  Explains why I'm so bored."

"Why do I feel like a relate on a spiritual level with you?  Lemme guess.  You stare out that window all day and think about how you wish you were anywhere but here, right?"

"Bingo.  School is just boring."

"Yeah, I had to move here because my parents got good jobs here in Seoul, but I was hoping school would be exciting for once.  I have a feeling we'll be finding ways to entertain ourselves, though."

And Haechan was certainly right.  You two began studying together.  He was able to catch up on three months worth of work in an afternoon.  You realized he was smart, but you couldn't wrap your mind around the fact that he was borderline genius.  If you didn't really know him, you'd just think he was a class clown.

"How comes we call fish 'fish', but we don't call birds 'bish'?" Haechan asked you.

"Because that's basically cursing, you idiot," you tried to maintain a straight face as your teacher glanced back at your area to see who was talking.

"Alright, I got one.  Why do we call chocolate 'chocolate'?  Like where did that even come from?"

The bell rang, and you stood up, shoving your notebook into your backpack.  "It's actually a word that came from the Aztecs, and it got passed down a few languages until it became 'chocolate'."

"Whoa, I wasn't prepared for an actual answer.  You're pretty book smart yourself, Y/N."

"Nah.  I just remember our Spanish sub rambling about it one day last year.  I thought it was the most pointless thing, but the more I thought about it, the more interesting it became.  So, are we going to my house to study chemistry?  The exam is tomorrow."

"Sure.  Let's go."

At your house, the two of you went up to your room, pulling up an extra chair to your desk.  Chemistry just so happened to be the hardest subject for both of you.  And sometimes the two of you joked how it was also your worst subject in life, if you catch my drift.

"Ugh, my head is spinning like electrons around the nucleus," Haechan whined.  "Someone call the doctor."

"You into EXO?  That's the second reference you've made.  The first one was when you introduced yourself to the class for the first time."

"YOU ACTUALLY REMEMBER THAT?!  I thought we agreed you had the memory of a goldfish.  But you're right.  I'm obsessed with EXO.  They're so cool."

You opened the zipper of your jacket revealing the EXO jersey underneath, and Haechan grinned.  "I like them too," you giggled.  "Alright, so let's get back to studying."

After a while, you heard heavy snoring to your right.  Haechan had laid his head down on the desk, and his pencil had fallen to the floor.  His face looked so calm and... handsome.  There!  You said it!  For weeks, you couldn't place your finger on what you had thought about Lee Donghyuck, but now it was clear as day.  The two of you clicked so well together.  Studying had always been a chore until you had started cracking down on the books with Haechan.  If someone could make studying enticing, then they were some magical unicorn from another planet.

"What're you staring at, baby?" Haechan asked, and you snapped out of your daze.  "What?  Am I making your heart flutter?"

Suddenly, your heart started thumping really hard, and you couldn't think of your usual snarky comebacks.  Haechan's eyes widened when he realized how red your cheeks were.

"Y/N... why are you so quiet?  Why can I only hear the clock ticking?"

"There is no clock," you mumbled.

"Y/N-"

Without warning, you shot up from your seat and dashed out of your room and out onto the front lawn.  You needed air and a second to think.  Suddenly, a pair of arms were around you, and you were pulled back inside.

"Fine.  If it makes you feel better, I'll tell you a little story.  There was this one lone proton in the nucleus.  It was spinning round and round, minding it's own business, bored as heck.  And one day, the most attractive, dazzling electron was walking by and found the proton even more attractive and was pulled into the atom's orbit.  And ever since then, the proton has been driving the electron crazy."

"The electron likes the proton?"  You tried to figure out what this dude was talking about.

"I like you, Y/N.  I was drawn to you ever since I caught you daydreaming during my amazing introduction on my first day.  And the more I got to know you, the harder it became to hide my feelings, but screw it.  Now you know."

You replied by settling in his warm embrace.  "Awwww~ the electron is totally into the proton!"

"OMG, SHUT UP, DUDE!" Haechan laughed, and you grinned.

"Fine, I like you, too.  You've been making school much more fun.  And the way we think- it's like we're one person.  So, I guess it wasn't just the electron.  The proton was also attracted."
