Chapter 49 - Release

After trying, and failing, to jump out of the creek that has formed, I pause looking at the walls. I would teleport out, if I could, but for some reason we are only able to teleport from 'land' to 'land'. Whenever I tried to jump, I found that the creek was deeper than I expected. I don't know how far it goes down, I'm not scared of drowning, but I don't really want to find out the depths it could go to and what it holds. I find a piece of the rock jutting out and pull myself out of the lava. I look down, and groan again, when I see that my clothes have burnt off. Whenever I go in voluntarily to the fire, I always wear clothes that have been made retardant to the fire. I twist my lips as I think, before bringing a hand away from the side, and bringing it to my lips whistling loudly. I hear a padding of feet, and seconds later a black head appears over the side.

"Attack and retrieve," I order as I climb up the side more. Tybalt turns and bounds away. I hear a growl, followed by a scream, before the sounds of footsteps pounding back towards the creek. A body comes flying over the edge, and I reach out to catch them before they fall in the fire.

"Good boy!" I call up to Tybalt, as I look to the person he has found. An older woman looks back to me, fear in her eyes. I look her over and see she is wearing a dress. I situate my feet on both sides of the creek, before pulling her up with one hand and ripping her dress down the back with the other. After grabbing the dress from her body, I drop her into the lava below as I tie the dress around me, in a makeshift cover. I reach back down in the lava, pulling the screaming woman back out. I bring my arm back and fling her up and onto the side with all my strength. Now covered, I make my way up the rest of the way. I stroke Tybalt's head once my feet are back on solid ground, silently thanking him, before we both move back off on our walk, being more cautious about where we step.

We start to make our way back to the house still in one piece. The differences were outstanding and made me regret leaving. Would I have been able to stop some of what happened if I was here? I swallow down my guilt as I start to walk through the small town-like area where the demons live. I look around and falter for a moment when I realize where I am. I feel my eyes water, but the tears never fall, they just stay there blurring my vision. Even though it is blurred, I can make out the unassuming building which is closest to home. It looks like every other building in the vicinity, bleak and drab on the outside, however I could pick this one out every time, I've seen this particular battered door many times, and used to be able walk to it with my eyes closed from anywhere in Hell before the new fire pits formed.

I bite my lip as I take a step towards the door, my blood starting to boil as I imagine his betrayal and everything he's put me through. I punch the door, imaging it to be the prior resident, Kyle. I let my anger out onto the door, putting all my strength into the punches, moving from the door to the walls when it broke and splintered. When I eventually stop my breathing is heavy from the anger mostly, and I feel even better. Tybalt stares up at me with his big red eyes full of worry for me. I give him a smile scratching his ear.

"Come on," I say continuing home, Tybalt following closely behind.

Sorry if the chapters seem short and not a lot happening, the next chapter will be were we learn Hades has found out about why Scar was unable to compel Reid. ;) What are your thoughts?

I might be able to tell you guys what is going on soon (and what is causing the update schedule to be out of whack), and I promise you as soon as I can, I will! :) You guys are at the forefront of my mind everyday! I am going to try and work out when would be the best time for me to update, so that the updates aren't affected and will go back to being weekly, so it may mean the day changes. I will let you guys know!
