You stepped out of the small coffee shop, two cups of hot chocolate in your hands. You looked up to the sky, fluffy white flakes freely falling from the gray clouds above. It dusted your hair, caught in your eyelashes, falling heavily to the ground. You shook your head with a childish grin, taking off towards home.

You and your boyfriend were supposed to be staying in tonight once you got off work, that was definitely happening now with how the snow was coming down. You passed the bakery, stopping to look through the window. You bit your lip, debating on going in for pie. You tapped your foot indecisively on the pavement below you, groaning.
"Screw it. I need pie." You put one cup between you arm and chest, heading up to the door.

A wave of warm baked scents washed over you. Hale's Bakery was the best in town. The owner, Hale, herself makes the most delicious pies. The crusts were always flaky, while whatever flavor it was, brought the punch. Overall, it made anyone who ate it, melt in love with the baked goods.

"Hey, (Y/N)!" Hale called out, moving from the display case to the register.

"Hi, Hale!" You smile brightly at her, setting your cups down on the counter.

"The usual?" She asks, leaning forward.
"Of course. Your apple pie is the best thing in the world!" You laugh lightly, giving her a toothy grin.

"Oh, stop. You're making me blush." Hale jokes, faking embarrassment. She moves to the kitchen, pulling out pie from the oven. "I had a feeling you'd be coming by at some point, so, I went ahead and made this one just under an hour ago."

"Woman, what did I do to deserve such a wonderful friend like you?" You giggled, astonished at the kindness.

"Hey, the best for my best customer." She replied with a wink, placing the pie into a box and closing it up.

You handed her $40, trading it for the pie. "Keep the change Hale." Before you could rearrange your drinks and pie in your hands, your phone went off, notifying you of a text message. You groaned and pulled it out. "If he wants to go out tonight, it's gonna be over my tired and pie stuffed body."

"He's crazy if he wants to. It's freaking snowing like hell out there." Hale shook her head, beginning to close down shop.

But no, your heart sank at the message, your lips falling into a frown.

I'm just not happy, I can't do this anymore. I'm sorry, hon.

"Guess I'm eating this pie by myself." You shrugged. You shake your head, picking up the pie, placing a drink on top of it and grabbing your other one.

"You're kidding me? Johnny broke up with you?" She gasped. "Through a fucking text message...what a dick."

"I wish I was." You sighed, adjusting your things and yourself. "Anyways, I call you later, okay? Keep warm on your way home."

"Later, (Y/N). You too, sweetie." She smiled sadly at you, as you walked to the door, pushing it open with you arm.

You entered the snowy surroundings once again, lost in your thoughts. Why, why, why, why, why.

What did I do wrong? Was it even me?

You breathed in deeply as you passed a man, who stood lost in thought at the lamp post, slightly leaning against it. You stopped in your tracks, looking back at him. You took in his black boots, his long and lean, jean cladded legs. You took in his black jacket covering his torso and fitting tightly to his arms. The collar covered his neck, trying to keep the snow of of his skin. He tucked his hands under his arms, attempting to keep them warm. You took in his profile, his defined jaw, his freckled cheeks and nose, to his short dirty blond hair.

You sighed and turned back around. No one should be sitting out here, looking miserable. You quietly walked up to him, placing your cup, next to the other one atop of the pie.

"Hi, excuse me?" You say loud enough for him to hear you, tapping his shoulder. His head snaps to your direction, taking in your stature.

"Yes?" His husky voice calls back. Honestly, it caught you off guard.

"I know this is probably none of my business, but why are you standing out here in the cold?" You look into his eyes, the lamplight glinting in his green orbs.

"Uh," he chuckles slightly, looking back down at the ground. "My girlfriend was supposed to meet me at this bakery and uh, that was over an hour ago. Then she texted me...saying-"

"Saying that it's over?" You cut in, raising an eyebrow.

"That obvious?" He laughed lightly, a hint of sadness in the action.

"No. I just got the same text five minutes ago from my boyfriend." You shrug, shifting on your feet.

"What a jerk he is." The guy shakes his head, blowing his breath into his hands.

"What a bitch she is." You laugh. You pick up one of the hot chocolate cups from off the pie, handing it to him.

"Touché." He chuckled, nodding his thanks for the drink.

"Well, come on. It's too damn cold for anyone and you look like you've been standing out here too long." You turned away, heading toward your apartment.

"But, wait!" The guy called out, running after you. "You don't even know me and you're just going to invite me into your place?"

You stopped again to look him in the eyes, noticing how much taller he is than you. "From one heartbroken stranger to the next, it doesn't matter. I have the best solution." You shrug with a small smile playing on your lips.

"And what's that, sweetheart?" He says, giving you a dazzling white smile.

"Apple pie." You giggled, turning away from him and taking off toward your apartment once more. You heard the guy laugh behind you, causing you to look over your shoulder. "You coming or what, sweetcheeks?"

"I am. I just...I don't know your name." He states, moving closer to you.

"(Y/N)." You answer with a smile. You set your cup on top of the pie, holding out your hand to him.

"Jensen." He grasps your hand, running his thumb lightly over the back of it.

"Now, will you come on? I can't feel my toes!" You whine, pulling him along. He willingly obliges this time, walking along side of you.

"Alright, alright. We're going." He smiles widely, the creases around his eyes becoming more defined.

You and Jensen walked closely side by side, talking about who you are and what you do in life, to anything and everything. Laughing and joking as you go along these snowy and quiet streets.

From a distance, Hale smiled knowingly at you two. She watched as she saw her best friend stepping out of his comfort zone and finding someone who's a good person for him, he just doesn't know it yet. She continued locking up the bakery and turned away from the door, heading to her apartment in the other direction.

I hope this works out for Jensen. God I really do.
