Mae's pov

My mind was racing as my heart felt like it was pounding out of my chest. The tunnels were dark, alarms were sounding, and walkers were hot on our heels. I didn't know what to think. I didn't know what to do. I kept my gun aimed at the oncoming walkers as I looked over at my best friend. T was bit, he was going to die and there was nothing I could do. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes but I fought them as my sadness turned to anger and I just shot every walker with anger. Tears did fall down my cheeks as the anger for these undead monsters heightened. A hand rested on my shoulder and I turned seeing T looking at me sympathetically as he held his bleeding neck. I whimpered and lowered my gun, but quickly re aimed when growls came from around the corner. When I tried to shoot though, nothing happened. I was out of bullets. I looked back at T worried as he grabbed my arm and started dragging me through the tunnel,

"There's a set of double doors that will lead to a corridor that will lead you back to your cell block!" He yelled over the alarm.

Tears fled down my cheeks as I shook my head, "No, you should stop!"

"I'm getting you there!" He yelled clearly in pain from the bite.

"You should stop!" I cried.

T-Dog stopped and turned to me breathing heavily,"Why? Sit here, and wait to die?"

I just cried and shook my head,"I'll do what I have to, you're not becoming one of those things!"

"I can't ask that!" He yelled.

"You don't have to!" I yelled.

"This is God's plan... He'll take care of me, always has. He's gonna help me lead you out of these tunnels." He said trying to lead me forward, but I stopped.

"T wait!" I yelled.

He looked back at me obviously worried as he looked at me. I couldn't move, I felt frozen and I could no longer control my tears. I was full on sobbing.

"Mae. We have to go!" He yelled.

I shook my head,"you promised!"

He looked over my shoulder and then looked back to my eyes,"Mae we don't have time for this!"

I didn't care that the walkers were getting closer. I just cried,"no! I can't!"

"You can...let me get you out of here please!" He begged.

"you promised you'd always be here for me! You promised!" I cried.

"And I still will be! I meant what I said, I will never leave you. I will always be by your side even if you can't see me." He said breathing even more heavily now.

I looked into his pained eyes and then my eyes traveled down to his neck where blood was oozing from the bite mark. The bite that would end his life and there was nothing I could do. Looking away from the bite, I saw the metal necklace swinging from his neck. The one that matched mine and it made me hold onto mine tightly before I just whimpered,

"I don't want to lose my best friend"

I noticed tears in his eyes as he grabbed the back of my head and brought me to him kissing my forehead,

"I will always be with you"

I just shook in his arms cherishing this final embrace with my best friend. The growls started getting louder. He pulled away and was looking over my shoulder determinedly. I wiped my eyes and looked at him before turning and seeing the large amount of walkers heading towards us. We had no weapons and they were blocking the only door. This would be it. I was going to die here right next to my best friend. My breathing hitched as fear overcame my body as I waited for my certain agonizing death. T gripped my shoulder and I looked at him as he said,
