Her friends watched her exchange whispers of sweet nothings with one of the guys who immediately took interest in her.
"Five minutes," Ara grinned as she waited until the longer hand of her watch strikes the number 3.
"Oh, she will be bored in two minutes." Amy sighed, her elbow propped against the table. "What is new with that?"
"Grabe naman kayo sa kanya. She looks like she is enjoying the company," Mika nodded at their friend. "See, they are going to exchange numbers na!"
"Haha, wait for it..." Bea added before she took a sip of the cocktail drink she has in her hand.
The group watched their friend intently as they waited for whatever interesting that would happen. However, it was the same old story.
The guy was suddenly furrowing his eyebrows at her while their friend shrugged nonchalantly. She patted the guy's shoulder lightly before she made an excuse to leave him.
"O, told you! At least, the whole interaction took seven minutes. That is somehow a record na!" Bea joked.
"Here... she... goes..." Ara moved a little to her right to give their friend a space on the couch to sit on. "Hay, Den. You broke another heart in seven minutes."
"I did?" Their friend, Dennise, gave them the most innocent looking eyes before her swig of the alcohol mix. "Man, he was boring."
"Everyone is boring to you, duh." Amy rolled her eyes which earned her a playful smack from Dennise.
"I was kind of hoping this night would be different pa naman." Mika pouted. "I thought you were getting serious out there."
"You know Dennise and serious just won't work in a sentence, right?" Bea quipped, winking at Dennise who gave her a nod of approval. "So who's the project ngayon, Den?"
"Jim," answered Dennise shortly. "But it is over. He is too nice for my liking."
"Ay, grabe. Jim? The guy who offered to take you to the Passion Pit concert pero you ditched him for who's that again? Louie? He could be the one. Perfect match na nga kayo eh. The good guy and the bad girl, 'di ba?"
"That is just so cliché. I am not a hopeless romatic, duh." Dennise retorted.
"You are definitely not romantic but heck, you are so hopeless." Mika teased her again. "I can't wait for the day na mag-iba naman ang takbo ng mundo, 'no? I just can't wait for the day you will fall in love. Yung mac-challenge ka naman."
"Uy, challenging din kaya ang magbigay ng excuse para makatakas sa kanila." Her friends could only plant their palms on their foreheads. "Come on, I was joking. Don't make me the brat here."
"You really are the brat here, Den." Amy reinforced.
"Tama lang na may bantay ka." Ara added. "Anyway, where is she? Sabi ko, isama mo eh."
"She's not my bantay; she's my housemate. And she is at home. Naga-aral 'yun. She has exams ata. You know naman how law students are."
