47: A Ghost's Caress
(Elegy)

I am a soul divided 'giants myself,
Divided on a strand of fickle fate
That curses me with life and worldly wealth,
But does not ease my mind of all I hate
Within myself. I am a world divided
On shifting sands of hate and waning love,
On which my dreams remain still undecided,
Remaining so when everything but love
Becomes the fodder for the things I write,
As if my worldly self were sunk in endless night.

I am a poet lost inside the strife
That now entraps me in my own despair,
Coloring all my visions of this life
   With morbid shadows flitting everywhere
I look. I am one man, a flitting candle
Light on a windy night of shade and shadow,
Wherein I see a door whose very handle
Beckons me forward with the afterglow
Of hope. I once embraced this world with thee,
But now I'll let thy ghost's caress embrace and hold me.

(To be continued...)
