Challenge Yourself
By Fox-Trot-934: Socratic Wisdom
(Quatrains)I'm in a messed-up mood,
And yet I do not care,
'Cause (not to sound so very rude)
I want to pull your hair—'Cause life's an endless wheel
Of broken promises—
Because I want to think and feel
And do the things he does!"Who is it," you may say,
"That you're referring to?"
I'll put it in a simpler way:
I only wish I knew!I do not know myself,
As others know themselves;
Whoever tries to know himself
Will have to hit the shelves!There between book covers
Must you then dip your nose;
And now whoever then discovers
That no one ever knows,Refer to Socrates,
For he will tell you so:
He is the wisest of the wise,
Because he doesn't know!But as for humble me,
Please, can I pull your hair?
For only by this can you see
That wisdom doesn't care.(To be continued...)
A/N: This is a spur-of-the-moment composition that draws on some of my academic studies into philosophy and political theory... Socrates is the most ubiquitous philosopher in all the philosophy and political theory classes I took... He's the Slender Man of Western philosophy! ( O_O )
