"So how old are you Nari-ssi?"
"Don't you know it's rude to ask a lady her age? But... if you must know, I'm 20," I playfully responded, sticking my tongue out at him. He chuckled and nodded in contemplation.
"Me too. So... that makes us friends I suppose... but I still want to know... Am I the oppa or are you my noona?" he asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes. I grinned and gave him a challenging gaze as I held up three fingers.
"On the count of three we are both going to say our birthdays. The elder has to buy shaved ice," I proposed. His eyebrow rose a bit before his eye smile took over his face.
"Call."
"Okay then. One.."
"Two..."
"Three!"
"November 22."
"December 15."
I threw my hands up in triumph as Jihoon gave me a small, exasperated smile.
"I win! You get to treat me to shaved ice Jihoon oppa!" I cheered, bouncing in my seat. Jihoon's ears soon turned pink and I froze upon realizing that I had actually called him oppa. I quickly put my hands in my lap and looked away from Jihoon.
"Sorry Jihoon-ssi... I shouldn't have called you that..." I softly said, worried that he might've been upset that I had forgone honorifics.
"No... call me oppa... I don't mind. Let's start talking comfortably since we're friends," he replied, a smile on his face, "Mingyu! Can we get a shaved ice over here?"
"Strawberry please!" I called out, grinning. Mingyu gave us a thumbs up and went to prepare the frozen treat.
"Nari, I'm glad we did this. You're fun to hang out with," Jihoon said, propping his face up with his hand.
"You're not too bad yourself Jihoon-ssi. Especially since you're treating me to shaved ice," I replied, giving him a teasing smile.
"Hey, I thought I said we should drop the honorifics..." he pouted. My eyes widened at his pout and a smirk soon found its way into my face.
"What? Do you like it when I call you oppa?" I teased, emphasizing the last word. His ears once again turned pink and he quickly took a sip of his tea. I giggled at his reaction and leaned forward in my seat.
"Oppa..."
His head snapped up to look at me and I felt my smirk widen into a smile at how flustered he looked.
"Y-yes...?"
"Our shaved ice is here," I simply said, leaning back into my seat. Mingyu placed the pink dessert in front of us and I quickly scooped some into my mouth. Jihoon pouted and went back to sipping his tea.
"Nari-ssi, what did you do to my hyung that he's actually pouting?" Mingyu mused. I snickered and put another spoonful of ice into my mouth.
"I didn't do anything to Jihoon oppa. He's just being shy," I responded.
"Oppa???" Mingyu asked, gaping at me.
"Yup. Turns out I'm only about a month younger than Jihoon oppa. And I've discovered that he turns this pretty pink color each time I call him oppa. Is that right oppa?" I giggled. Jihoon shifted in his seat, his face growing redder and redder by the moment. Mingyu looked at his friend and burst out in laughter upon seeing that my words were true.
"Oh my god hyung, you look like a tomato!" He gasped in between fits of laughter.
"Yah! Kim Mingyu! Stop laughing!" Jihoon scolded, throwing a wadded napkin at the laughing boy. He scowled when Mingyu laughed harder and mumbled that he was going to go to the washroom. I smiled as I watched Jihoon stomp away and smiled up at Mingyu.
"He's fun to tease," I said. Mingyu nodded before sitting down in Jihoon's chair.
"I know. That's why I've been purposely flirting with you. It's funny to see him get jealous," he said, looking meaningfully at me. It was my turn to turn to get flustered as I quietly began to play with my shaved ice.
"Why would he get jealous..?" I mumbled.
"Trust me Nari-ssi, he's jealous. I mean, if my ridiculously handsome friend was flirting with the pretty girl I was on a date with I would get jealous too," Mingyu boasted, the corner of his lips curving up into a smirk. I rolled my eyes and playfully pushed Mingyu's arm.
"Don't say stuff like that... this isn't even a date," I muttered. He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders.
"Mingyu, why are you sitting in my seat?"
We looked up to see a sulking Jihoon and Mingyu folded his arms on the table.
"Just keeping Nari noona company," he responded, giving me another wink. I raised an eyebrow at the noona comment but remained quiet.
Jihoon's jaw clenched slightly and he huffed in annoyance.
"Can I get the check Mingyu? I need to go soon," Jihoon mumbled. Mingyu nodded and quickly went to get the bill. Jihoon sat back down and finished off his tea.
"Did you have fun talking to Mingyu?" Jihoon quietly asked, looking me in the eyes.
"He's an interesting guy... really handsome too," I replied, watching his reaction. His shoulders seemed to sink a little and his eyes dropped down to the empty mug in front of him.
"Yeah... I can give you his number if you want it..." he softly said. I smiled and placed my chin into my hand.
"Too bad he's not my type."
Jihoon seemed to stop breathing and his gaze came back up to meet mine.
"He's not?"
"Nope. His guitar playing, music composing friend on the other hand... I think I'd like to get to know him a little bit more," I said, giving him a wink. Jihoon bit his bottom lip and gave me a bashful smile.
"I think he feels the same way about you..."
