SO APPARENTLY I'M UPDATING AGAIN THANKS LENA

i slide into the seat next to tyler.

"hi," he says, looking down at the table.

i smile. "hey."

"should we... y'know... get to know each other to know what we're in for?" i ask.

he shrugs. "sure."

silence.

i take a glance at tyler. he's watching melanie and brendon laugh at what melanie said with a sad expression on his face.

huh?

"i'm guessing that means i go first?" i say, trying to ease his attention from brendon and melanie. i laugh.

"s-sure," he says, shrugging.

i heave a sigh. "i'm joshua dun. i love art. my favorite class, actually..."

he looks at me, surprised. "really? i would've thought, like, gym or something... not art," tyler says.

i laugh. "i hate gym."

"me too."

"i think you'll find this really surprising but i love school," i say.

his jaw drops. "what?!"

nothing like how everyone says i am, huh?

"yeah," i laugh awkwardly. "your turn?"

he nods. "i'm tyler joseph. i love art, also." he scratches the back of his head. "i like tacos. a lot."

i laugh. "that last thing was random," i say.

"y-yeah, but it's true... is there anything else?"

"not that i can think of. you?" i say. other than the fact that he's seriously adorable.

"me neither."

silence.

"we should paint," we say in unison.

we stare at each other in the eye before breaking into laughter.

"good idea," i say, laughing.

"mhm," tyler laughs.

i smile internally. this is starting off good.

"here's my number," i say, grabbing a random pen lying on the floor and, taking a scrap of paper off the table, write my number down and hand it to him.

"alright, i'll text you tonight so we can plan sometime we can work on whatever we're painting together," tyler says, taking the piece of paper.

i nod as the bell rings.

lunch.

finally.

i let out a sigh and stand up.
