Chapter 7 ~ Coming Back

Matilda's POV

The day at the mall the other day was hell awesome. I rocked myself at the shops. Despite the difficult economic situation we were in, I bought many things. New jeans, cute T-shirts and Mrs Bresley bought me a black leather dress that suited me best. Mrs Bresley had been so kind. I couldn't help but give her a huge hug after that present.

Today was the day that Jake was coming back. His team won the championship and I can tell by that, that his ego was going to be totally boasted.

"Hello, everyone! I am back!" I heared him shouting from the door.

Oh my God! Hell is officially back! Despicable me.

I stayed in my room watching TV instead of going out. I could here everyone congratulating him for the cup. I made my way out and I found him coming up the stairs. What a nice coincidence was this!

"Hey, won't you congratulate me for the win of my team?" He boasted to me and I felt the urge to punch his flawless face.

"Congratulations Jake." I said in a dull tone and turned my gaze away.

"Did you miss me these days?" He asked with a wink.

"Did you miss me?" I asked him back with sarcasm.

"Hahaha, come on Matilda. I was so busy with all the girls in NY to have the time to think of you. So I guess the answer is a no." Paradoxically, that was like a knife to my chest.

May I slap him? Please.

His phone suddently rang and interrupted our lovely conversation.

"Hey babe. What's up?" He said and left me there standing whilst he went to his bedroom.

Jake's POV

Chloe phoned me and I couldn't help but stare at Matilda's face. It was priceless. She seemed ready to explode.

I met Chloe at the party we threw in NY for the success of our team. The night we spent together was so hot but... it was just for one night. Couldn't see get it? I did called her 'babe' before but that was just for Matilda to hear. Besides, I got Sabrina here and I don't want to upset her. Although one of these days I must find the courage to break up with her. I need to be free to live my life.

Before I could let my mobile phone down, I heared it ringing again.

"Hey Sabrina."

"Hey babe. You didn't call me and I was worried. Where are you?"

"I am here in California. What's up?"

"James is throwing a party tomorrow afternoon and I was wondering if you would like to go with me."

"I had no idea of that party."

"Yeah, I had been calling you these days but I had no answer."

"Sorry babe, but I was so busy with the game and all this stuff.." I didn't feel comfortable with the fact that I lied to her but I had no other option.

"I will call you later and answer to you because my mother is calling me. Bye"

I lied because I needed time to decide. If I said yes then she'd continue to be glued on me. I had to think of something quickly.

But I didn't want to upset her. She really loved me, although I didn't feel something special for her.

At dinner we sat altogether at the table. After the dessert, my mom asked me if would be going to James' party tomorrow.

"How do you know about the party?" I asked her in total confusion.
