[A/N: This is the best way I thought I could do a mini author note without making a chapter for it. I just want to thank everyone who has read, voted for, and commented on the story so far. Having 2k reads (almost 3k now) means the world to me and I just want to thank each and every one of you. Thanks! c:]
Today was going to suck. And that's all there was to it.
Josh was leaving to go on tour today. You were happy for him of course. But you also didn't want him to leave.
"You have your phone charger?" "Yep." "Sticks?" "Yep!" "Everything else?" You laughed, not being able to think of any more specifics he would forget. "Yes, everything else." Josh laughed.
"Well, let's go then!" You smiled up at him, not wanting him to feel bad that you were upset. "Awesome! Let's go!" Josh said excitedly, carrying as much as he could out the door while you carried the rest.
°°°
Josh walked into the airport, and you followed behind him. The farther into the airport you walked, the harder you knew this would be. As you guys walked, you held hands and talked about your mini vacation.
"Sorry I fell asleep before you finished talking." You laughed. "It's alright. You were sleeeepy." Josh stuck his tongue out at you teasingly. "It was a long day!" You playfully punched his arm. "I know I know." Josh chuckled.
°°°
"Flight 182 now boarding." A voice came over speakers scattered around the airport. It nearly sent chills down your spine. It was the same flight that he boarded the first time he left. "Well..." Josh looked at you, a sad look overtaking his face. "Yea..." A wave of sadness overtook you.
Josh wrapped his arms around you in a hug, and tightened his grip almost instantly. "I'm gonna miss you." His voice sounded a little shaky. Was Josh crying? Now wasn't really the time to be thinking about it though. You were kind of surprised anyways. He never really got too emotional like this. "I'm going to miss you too, you big dork." Your arms tightened around him, and your voice didn't exactly sound normal either.
Damn this was getting harder and harder to do.
"I have my phone so I'll text you the entire flight. Alright? I promise." Josh promised you, still not letting go. "Flight 182 is boarding. Last call for flight 182." Shit.
"Josh?" "Yea?" "Good luck."
This time, Josh just nodded. After you pulled back from the hug you knew why. Josh had a couple stray tears coming down his cheeks. You figured he probably didn't want to sound too much like he was crying. "Go get em." You smiled up at him, tears staining your cheeks too. Both of you chuckled for a minute at how both of you were crying. Josh leaned in, and planted a soft kiss on your forehead after the chuckling had died down.
"I'll see you later." Josh whispered shakily. "See you later Josh." You replied in a whisper.
Josh turned, and headed off to get into the airplane. You watched him leave, and even after you couldn't see him anymore, you stood there. People swarmed walked around you as you did so. You never felt so... Alone. It was going to be rough.
°°°
You were almost back to apartment. You had to drive Josh's car back since that's the one both of you had taken there. Even his car felt lonely at this point.
You pulled the car into the parking lot for the apartment building, and put it in park.
For a while, you just sat there, staring at the ceiling of the car. You aren't going to lie and say that you didn't cry a little on the way home. Of course you were happy for Josh but he was going to be gone for seven months. You'd find something to do. Maybe pick up a different job.
You had a "job" when you had met Josh again, but it wasn't a job that had set hours. It was only when they needed you, and this seemed like it was going through a little bit of a dry spell.
Trying to focus more on the things you should get done while Josh was gone, you put the car into park and head inside.
Once you were inside, you instantly flopped down onto the couch. You yawned, and stretched out across it as you laid down. All of a sudden, your phone started making all kinds of noise. It was practically blowing up.
When you checked it, all of the notifications were coming from either Twitter or Instagram. You decided to check Instagram first since it was the first notification.
"Josh Dun tagged you in a post"
You went to see exactly what post he tagged you in, your heart nearly melted.
When you were asleep at the hotel, he had taken a picture of you guys cuddling, and him kissing your forehead. The caption read "I haven't been away from her from a day and I already miss her."
Curiously, you scrolled through some of the comments. Most of them were along the lines of "OMG THIS IS SO CUTE." Or "This is perfect!!!"
You couldn't help but laugh at how excited some people got about it. You loved this picture though. You decided to write a comment too, just for the heck of it.
"Miss you too Josh. Cute picture you snuck in there."
This seemed to make your Instagram blow up even more than it was before. You decided to give it a break though, and get some dinner.
°°°
Now you were getting ready for bed. It was early, but you ate too much of the pizza you ordered earlier and felt super exhausted.
You went to get into bed, but stopped as your eyes locked into Josh's dresser.... Why not.
Before getting into bed, you pulled one of Josh's shirts out of his dresser and changed into it. It even smelled like him, even though you thought it sounded a little creepy. It made it feel like he was there though. You finally crawled into bed, and tried to sleep.
You forgot how different this was. "Why is every little thing so damn weird without him. Jesus." You rolled over, mumbling to yourself.
"Good night Josh." You yawned, knowing he wouldn't hear it anyway. You didn't mind though. Eventually you fell asleep buried in the comforter.
