Intertwine (Strings of Fate) Chap. 21

"Uhm, ok." I look at my watch to see what time is it.

"Uh-oh, it's time Ayaka, we have to go."

"It is already?"

(Kannon's POV) 

I'm so damn tired this whole afternoon. I was in-charge in taking pictures in all of the activities in the school. I'm almost done when I decided to rest a bit in a nearby bench beside the stalls in the school grounds. When suddenly a student stand in front of me with a mask and handed me something.

"Someone told me to give this to you." She handed me a chocolate ice cream and a letter. I took it hesitantly and I read the letter.

"Go to the gym." The letter puzzled me. I stood up while licking the ice cream and went straight to the gym. When I open the door, but I saw no one. A few moments, someone approach me with a mask.

"Someone told me to give this to you." He handed me a cotton candy and a letter and read it.

"Go to the cafeteria." Huh? What are these? Are they kidding me? With hesitation, I went to the cafeteria, but when I get there, I see no one. Then suddenly someone with a mask approaches me and gives me a balloon and a letter.

"Again!? Who are you people? Why are you giving me these kind of stuff!?" I ask hysterically this time.

"Don't just stand there and read it." Then he walks away.

"Go to the classroom." What the heck? I don't get all of these. I heaved a deep sigh to calm myself and went to the classroom. However, as I expected that no one was here. Then, someone took my attention from behind. She handed me a medium size teddy bear and a letter.

"Who are you? And why are you giving me these?"

"Don't just stand there and read it." Then she turns back and walks away.

"Go to the rooftop." I knew it! I know who are behind these! If I was right, he was at the rooftop. I'm gonna bite him to death. What do he thinks he is? Giving me all these? He's so pathetic! Just wait Kaname, I will never forgive you from these. But deep in my heart I wish he truly gives me these. 

I hurriedly went to the rooftop. But no one is there. I didn't notice that it was already night. And all the students are probably went home right now. It was so dark that I get frightened. Then suddenly, I heard some footsteps in the stairs approaching me. Then I saw him running and sweating. I look at him angrily and I was supposed to shout at him but he suddenly grabs me and embraces me tightly.

"Thank goodness you're alright." He said while panting hard. What is he talking about? I don't understand a thing. What's going on?

"What are you talking about? And please will you let go of me!?" I push him hard to let me go but he still grabs my arms.

"I was so worried that something bad happens to you." He said with anxious eyes.

"I don't understand what you are talking about, and there is nothing bad happened to me." Then, he smiles with relief.

"I thought something bad happen to you, someone told me and I look for you at the whole school but I can't find you." I look at him quizzically but I frown at him.

"Are you still kidding me? What do you think you are doing setting me up!" I shout back at him. He stares at me with questioning look.

"Setting you up? What are you saying?" I handed him the letters.

"What are these? I didn't give these to you."

"Are you still denying yourself now that I cover it up?" I glare at him but he didn't talk to me. Because I was so angry, I walk pass him but suddenly the door closed. I tried to open it but it won't budge, then I slam my body to it out of mixed emotions.

"Hey stop it! What are you doing? You're just hurting yourself." He grabs to stop me from what I am doing. I felt dizzy from exhaustion and depression I fell on my knees and sat down on the ground.

"Why are you doing these to me? Did I do something wrong?" I said softly because I am feeling tired.

"I don't know what's going on, Kannon. I don't know who handed you these letters." I look up and stare at his sincere eyes, and I realize he was telling me the truth.

"I'm sorry I accused you like that." But before he can reply to me I was blinded by lights. Then I realize hundreds of light bulbs surround us.

"What the--."  

"What's the meaning of these?" I stood up from the ground and Kaname as well, but nothing comes from my mind. I was so amaze by the sight of it. The whole place was full of light, then I sight a red couch in the middle of the rooftop and beside it a small table with drinks for two.

"I think, we we're set up." He said and looked at me.

"By who?"

"Who else? By them." Them? Is he talking about the others?

"Why would they do that?" He took my hand and led me to the couch, but then I stop suddenly.

"What is it?"

"I forgot." I bowed to grab the stuff toy lying on ground, and then we sit on the couch. He handed me a drink, I took it and drink it.

"Are you ok now?" He asked.

"Yeah, I'm ok now, thanks."

"I think I know why they did this to us?" I look at him quizzically but he's looking up.

"And what is it?" He then turns to me and stares at me seriously.

"I know why you always avoiding me and angry at me." I look away because memories came rushing to my head.

"I don't want to hear it." He then suddenly touches my face and forces me to face him and he was dead serious this time. This is the first time I see him with those eyes as if seeing through me.

"I haven't told you why I didn't contact you or comfort you when you're parents died. But listen to me this time." My mouth shut by his command but it looks like he was pleading.

--//Flashback//-- 

There was a problem in one of our restaurant and some of our restaurants are nearly in bankruptcy. My parents are so problematic at that time. They say that is they can't save the restaurants and others will fall. So they did the last resort they can think off. They make an arrange marriage between the Hashigawa, which produces agricultural products here in Japan. They are planning to get us married. I don't like the idea of it. I confront them to break the contract but they told me that this is the only way to save our business and prevent me from seeing Kannon. That time I was furious, the thought that I can't see you made me mad. Then, I think of what I can do to help our business and to prevent them from getting me married to the girl I don't like. I met up with Sakuya Hashigawa at my favorite park. I told her everything about my problem and the reason why I can't marry her. I know I was being selfish but I can't let her suffer also. But then, she fully understand me and she is willing to help me. That time I saw you walking away, I tried to catch up to you but you were gone. But I think that this isn't the right time to tell you. I approach your grandfather to make a deal to him. I also told him everything and he easily take up the deal. He was willing to invest to our restaurant but in one condition. I was so glad when he said that, now that our problem solved I could live up my life again.
