Intertwine (Strings of Fate) Chap. 16

"What?"

"Didn't you like it? You can sing your new song in the festival."

"Uh right, if she is ok with it." He looks at Ritsu senpai and has their eye contact but Ritsu senpai look away. Then, he bowed his head down.

"What is the title of the new song?" I asked to break the tension between us.

"Music in my Heart. Kohei wrote it himself."

"Eh, that's amazing. What is it all about, Kohei senpai?" When he heard what we are discussing he lifts his head.

"It's about a boy, so in love to the girl and he wants to tell how much he loves her, but he didn't know the girl's feeling towards him."

"Ah, is it about you, senpai?" He chuckled back.

"Something like that."

"Eh? Who is this girl senpai?" Then suddenly Ritsu senpai stand up from her chair and speak.

"Let's start practicing. I want to finish this." All of us were surprised. We are seeing a different Ritsu senpai right now. She looks like she was hurting inside but hiding it hard. Is there something wrong? Even Kohei senpai was so silent the whole time. 

The practice ended fast.

"Ah! I am so tired. We should continue this tomorrow guys." We all nodded.

"Ok, I'll be off first. Sayonara minna! (Goodbye everyone!)." Senpai waved his hand and walk away. I was the one who break the silence first.

"Why are you two so silent the whole day, senpais?" The two look at me anxiously.

"Uhm, it's nothing Alexis-san." He gives a small smile in his wary face.

"You can't fool me senpai. Did something happen?" He suddenly remains silent.

"I'm off." Ritsu senpai said and waved her hand.

"Bye, senpai." I turned to look at him.

"Even Ritsu senpai is acting strangely from this morning."

"Do you really want to know?" I nod for agreeing.

"But if you don't want to. I won't interfere."

"It's ok, Alexis-san. I'm not the one who suffers the most." I frowned. I sat down in one of the chair and he did too.

(Kohei's POV) 

"You know, Ritsu and I, we knew each other since junior high school."

--//Flashback//-- 

I learned how to play guitar when I was 5 years old. My father bought it for me in my fifth birthday. From that day onwards, I always play the guitar. And my dream was to form a band and perform in a lot of people and sing to them my songs. When I was in the high school, I met this person, who invited me to be in their band. At first, I was so happy but at the same time nervous, so I did not give him my answer yet because I was hesitant. That person was Ryuzaki Yukimori. That afternoon he meets me and grabs me, drags me in their practice room. He announced that they have a new member to his band mates. I was in shame at that time I can't even look straight to them. And guess what happened? Someone grabs my hand and pulls me inside the room. I lift my head to see who grabs me. To my surprised, I saw her. Her big pretty eyes were the most beautiful thing I saw in my life. Her smile was the first miracle I experience. For the first time I fall into a girl. She was Ryuzaki-san's younger sister. Ritsu Yukimori. She was also a freshman in the school. And we have the same dream. We became friends and the time we spent together was the happiest time in my life, my heart flatter whenever I make her smile. Then, our band become so famous not only in the school but in the whole Tokyo. We thought that our dreams are in our hands. However, we are wrong, something that change our lives forever.

We are getting a lot of support, but we don't know where is it from. Ryuzaki only said that we get it from a big sponsor. I suspected it. So, after our practice I tailed him. I saw him with a guy in his black suit giving him some money. That money intended for our band. We didn't know that Ryuzaki-san was paying money in our school to continue support the band. The money that he gets was from a black organization that was also our sponsor of our band. I was the one who first knows this. At first, I do not believe it myself. Then, I confronted him the next day. He said that I shouldn't speak this to anyone. And if I will tell this to them. He will take Ritsu away from me. That time, I didn't know what to do. If I tell this to her, she will be hurt and I will lose her. But if I didn't tell this to her, we will suffer from the consequences it will bring. So I decided to not let them know the truth and seal it with lies. But, that wasn't my intention, I don't have a choice.

Then one night, an unexpected thing happens. Ryuzaki went missing. We search for him but found nothing. Ritsu cried everyday for she was very worried for her brother. He didn't say where he was going or leave a letter to us, none. After a week, we found him breathless. The police said that the cause of his death was from those bruises and heavy blows in every part of his body. I know, that the black organization did this to him, but I didn't know why and how. My conscience was haunting me every night that it was my all my fault. I didn't want that to happen myself. Therefore, I went to their house and I decided to tell them the truth.

"Kohei-kun, you want to visit Ritsu? Thank goodness. She hasn't been eating these days. Maybe she doesn't also accept what happen to her brother. She loves him so much."

"I know that, uncle. But it's not what I came here." They look at me with a questioned look in their faces.

"Then, what do you like to say, Kohei-kun?"

"You need to know something about Ryuzaki-san." They were shocked for what I revealed to them. I know it's hard to believe at first. But it was the truth. Her mother cried hard. Then suddenly I heard fast footsteps me towards. It was Ritsu herself. Unexpectedly, she come and faces me. Without a single word, she slaps me hard in face that I almost fell in the floor.

"How dare you say that to my brother!?" She exclaimed while tears are forming in her eyes.

"Don't you dare accused him with your lies, Kohei, because you don't know him." Her tears start falling down. I held my injured cheeks and look at her surprised.

"I hate you, Kohei! I don't want to see you ever!" She said to me. She never smiles after that. And our band was disbanded because if ever that piece of information can disgrace our names, so we decided to hide that and disband. From that day on, I lose my dream and even the girl I like. And as for her, she never play again. She thinks that music killed her brother and now she hates it more. That's why she didn't want to play piano again.

(Alexis' POV)

I lend him my handkerchief but he refuses my offer. He was crying silently when he told me every detail of their past. I didn't know that they have been though problems that break them apart.

"I know how it feels and how much it hurts that fate is the one that will separate you." He wipes his tears and look at me.

"Did something like that happen to you?"

"We all have our deepest part of our lives. But it is how we get up and stand after that will make us who we are now."

"Thanks for listening to me." I pat his shoulder and smile at him.

"It's not a problem, senpai. If you want someone to tell your problems, we are here for you, your friends.
