Intertwine (Strings of Fate) Chap. 11

"Stop! Please help me! Please" I cried for help.

"Ayaka!" I heard my father's voice. Thank God, it was the police.

"Chichiwe! (Father!) Please help me! Help them!" I pleaded to him.

"It's ok now, we are here to help. It's ok now." With his assurance voice, I kneel down because of the tension I get from the situation. Father embraces me as tight as he can to give me comfort.

"Please help them father they are in danger."

"Don't worry it will be over soon. This will be over."

After a few minutes, I heard that the operation was a success. They arrested them and have been put to jail. I was still in my place, I can't even move a single finger. Then I heard their familiar stride approaching in my back.

"It's alright, Ayaka." I felt Jiro's hand in my shoulder as he said that. I know they are safe. But I felt guilt in my heart. This was my entire fault, it's all my fault.

"I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." I scoffed repeatedly.

"That's enough, Ayaka. Let's go home." Father helps me to get up and he puts his jacket around me. He guides me towards the car, before the car close I look for Yuji's face, but all I can see was an angry expression of him. He must be angry with me, of course he is. For what I have done to them, they even help and save me from the gangsters. I don't deserve them, and I don't deserve such kind persons. That day was the worst day of my life. I lost the most important persons in my life. From that day onwards, our relationship was gone. And I was the reason why.

(Alexis' POV) 

"You should know how it feels. I was to be blame because of that." She scoffed.

"Did you ever ask him about that?" I asked.

"How could I? It was my fault. I can't even look at him straight." She embraced her knees and bowed her head.

"Did you ever know what he feels?" Jiro inquired.

"I know he blames me too."

"I always thought you're smart, but you are this dumb Ayaka. And also, he never blamed you for what happened."

"You're a liar Jiro, you only saying that because you want to comfort me, didn't you?"

"I guess you didn't know what he thinks, his too stupid to tell you, you know."

"What are you talking about?"

"Why don't you ask him that yourself? You will know what truly happens that day, you know." Before she can ask further question, Jiro walks away from us.

"What do you think he thinks Alexis?" She asked me.

"I don't know what really happened to the three of you. But I believe that you are the only one who can answer that question of yours. Just believe to yourself, and you will find what you are looking for. If you need to hurt others or yourself, then so be it." I patted her head to give her outmost comfort to her. She lifts her head and her lips formed a simple but sincere smile.

"Thank you, Alexis. I will try to talk to him when I have the courage."

(Jiro's POV) 

After the little conversation with Ayaka and Alexis I went to look for Yuji. We are best friends since junior high. He is one of closest friend beside Ayaka. I search in the school ground but I find nothing even his shadows. I went to the gymnasium if I can find him there, but his teammates said he didn't even come to practice. The last stop would be in the rooftop where our favorite place is. There no one can disturb us and it is the only place where we can do everything we like to do. I climbed up the stairs going to the rooftop and thank goodness he was there sitting while leaning the wall while his arms crossed.

"There you are. I've been searching for you. Where have you been? Wouldn't you go train?" I sit beside as I tacked my left hand on my pocket.

"What the sense? I don't want to?"

"You two are the same, Yuji."

"The same? What are you talking about? This makes no sense at all."

"We all know that you are also blaming yourself for what happened. And so did she. But why didn't you tell her the truth?"

"You should've know the answer to that Jiro."

"Yeah, but this is unfair. You know her, she always put the blames on herself. And we know also that, when she blames herself, she will be hard on herself."

"I know, I always know that Jiro, that's why I don't want to blame herself even more. If she knew about that, she might not even forgive herself."

"Then, what are you going to do? What if that happened again?"

"I don't know, I wouldn't let anyone hurt her again. Because it's my fault that she cried hard that day."

"Don't blame yourself in that, we all do too." I heard him heaved a deep sigh then he suddenly spoke up.

"Maybe, I better tell her the truth. But if I tell her that, she wouldn't forgive."

"Just do what you think is right. If you have to hurt her again at least you can protect her this time."

"I know Jiro, I have to even if I risk my life for her." I patted his shoulder as he replied me a slight smile.
