"Namjoon speaks of you all like you're poetry," he said with a warm smile as he shook our hands.
"And now I see why. You're building something beautiful here."
"Thank you," I replied, genuinely honored. "That means a lot."
He nodded, his eyes crinkling kindly.
"Take care of him," he added softly, looking toward Joon. "He carries more weight than he shows."
"Always," Kook said beside me, firmly.
Then came In-su, Joonie's younger brother, dressed in scrubs and looking like he'd run straight from the hospital.
"Sorry I'm late!" he said breathlessly, bowing quickly. "ER shift ran long."
"You're here," Joon said simply, pulling him into a hug that lingered.
In-su grinned and turned to us, polite and curious. "So you're the legendary Hoseok and Jungkook?"
"Legendary might be generous," I laughed. "But we're here."
He chuckled. "You've got Joonie-hyung smiling like he used to in college. That's legendary enough."
And then, at last, came Joon's parents.
They stepped in quietly. No fanfare.
Just the kind of presence that draws attention without trying.
His mother nodded politely as she took in the house, the people, the noise.
His father stood stiffly beside her, eyes darting-observing. Calculating.
I won't lie, my nerves kicked back in.
Kook shifted beside me, just slightly, like he felt it too.
They greeted Jin hyung with a cordial nod, formal but not unfriendly.
"Mr. and Mrs. Kim," Jin hyung said respectfully, bowing. "It's good to see you both again."
His mother nodded. "Likewise. You look well."
Joonie walked over then, his smile unsure but sincere. "Appa. Eomma. Welcome."
They glanced around again, quiet. The room was filled with laughter and overlapping conversations, clinking glasses, Yeontan's barks, Wacha's disdainful meows from the staircase, and Tae dramatically singing along to whatever was playing in the background.
Pure chaos. Loving chaos.
At first, his parents stood a little straighter. A little stiffer.
But then-His mother's eyes lingered on Tae, laughing in the corner with Dara and Jiwon.
On Jin hyung brushing flour off Yoongi hyung's cheek as Jia coos at them.
On Yeona pulling Y/N into a slow twirl in the living room.
On Jungkook hugging In-Su like they'd been childhood friends.
On Joon-softened, alive, glowing.
His father exhaled.
