The kind that only comes from knowing the truth is on your side.
His suit was sharp. His expression sharper.
But beneath that calm exterior, I could still see it—
The fierce, unrelenting love in his eyes.
The kind he only ever wore when it came to Taehyung.
Tae sat tall.
Shoulders back.
Jaw set.
Even with his hand trembling faintly in mine, he was still standing. Still fighting.
And we were with him. Every breath. Every second. Every word.
Jin oppa stopped in front of Mr. Choi, exhaled slowly, then spoke—Cool. Controlled. Deadly.
“Mr. Choi.”
A pause.
Mr. Choi lifted his chin like he still believed he could salvage this. “Attorney Kim.”
Oppa tilted his head, voice deceptively soft.
“Tell me—how does it feel?”
Mr. Choi blinked. “Excuse me?”
“How does it feel,” Jin oppa repeated,
“to sit in this courtroom, surrounded by the people you once controlled—only to realize that not a single one of them is standing with you anymore?”
Silence stretched.
Mr. Choi’s fingers twitched against the stand.
He was unraveling.
And everyone could see it.
“My son,” he spat, voice brittle,
“is a disgrace.”
Gasps scattered through the room.
Tae didn’t flinch—but I felt his grip tighten.
Hyunwoo let out a short, humorless laugh.
He was unshaken now.
He had already bled.
There was nothing left to fear.
Jin oppa’s expression didn’t move.
“Funny. That’s not what this courtroom saw. Or what the jury heard.”
He took a step closer.
“They saw a man who broke free. Who stood up. Who told the truth.”
Another step.
“A truth you’ve spent a lifetime trying to erase.”
Mr. Choi’s jaw clenched.
“Hyunwoo betrayed his family.”
“No,” Jin oppa said flatly. “He saved it.”
Mr. Choi’s voice turned sharp.
“He threw everything away.”
“He let go of a lie,” Jin oppa snapped.
“And finally gave this boy—” he turned slightly, gesturing toward Taehyung.
“—a voice.”
Tae’s chest rose and fell slowly. He was watching Jin, not blinking.
And I watched him. All of him.
The fire behind his silence.
The ache behind his strength.
Jin oppa tilted his head.
“Let me ask you something else.”
He leaned in, voice dropping.
“When did you decide Taehyung wasn’t a person?”
Mr. Choi flinched.
