"I'm okay now," I added gently.

"Really. I'm okay. I have Yeontan. Wacha. I have Jiwon my bestfriend who's like a brother to me, his parents who treat me like their own. Our soulmates, Jin hyung, Joon hyung, Yoongi hyung and Y/N noona and their families And-"

"-You shouldn't have had to survive that,"

he snapped.
Not loudly.

But the heat in it shocked even him, I think.

He blinked, stared down at his hands.

"No one should have to go through that. Least of all you."

I didn't know what to say to that.

His voice trembled with something so close to rage it knocked the breath out of me.

And then... I saw it.

That ache behind his eyes.

The part of him that wanted to rush in, to protect, to fix. But he held back.

Caught between instinct and reason. Between the pull of something deeper, older, and the fear of making things worse.

I smiled, soft and crooked.

"Thanks jungkook. I really appreciate it. By the way, How do you know her?"

He looked up fast, caught off guard.

"Dr. Jiwoo," I clarified.

"It sounded like you knew her"

He hesitated-just for a beat-then exhaled.

"Uhm... she's close," he said simply.

"With someone very special to me."

I nodded, not pushing. It wasn't my place.

Not yet.

The moment stretched, slow and quiet.

Something about it felt delicate-like a single flame between two hands.

Then Jungkook looked at me, eyes wide with something that felt like vulnerability-and trust.

"Can we..." he started, licking his lips.

"Can we keep this meeting between us? At least for a bit?"

His voice was so sincere, I froze.

"I'm not ready for everyone to know yet," he said softly.

"It's just... I'm still figuring things out. About myself. About them. It's complicated."

I reached over without a second thought and placed a hand over my heart.

"Solemn hyung vow," I said seriously.

"Your pace. Your rules. I'm just honored I got a head start."
