Chapter 77: Everything and Nothing

Start from the beginning

There's something soft there, something knowing, something that remembers exactly what happened next.

-Flashback-

Weeks passed.

And I tried-I really tried-to forget about Kim Seokjin.

But apparently, my brain didn't get the memo.

Because every time I checked my phone, I half-expected a message from him.

Which was stupid.

Because why would he text me?
Why would I text him?

We met once.
We argued, we drank, we almost-
...Whatever. It didn't matter.

I had work to do.

One day, as I was walking through Gangnam, I passed Jin's Law Firm building.

And for some reason-some fucking reason-I stopped.

I stared up at it for longer than necessary.

The sleek glass windows, the bold gold-lettered sign, the weight of power and prestige hanging over the entire place like an untouchable force

I hated it.

But a part of me also wondered if Jin was inside.

I shook my head, cursing under my breath.

This is stupid. You're being stupid.

And yet-when I turned to leave, I caught Dara standing there, coffee in hand, watching me with a shit-eating grin.

I froze. "What are you doing here?!?!"

Her face morphed into amusement and snorts. "Excuse you! I am the best friend of the owner of this building and we are going out for lunch."

And then she looks at me, really looks at me.

Her grin returns, wide, provoking

"But...That's not a question for me is it?"

"Tell me Joon. What are YOU doing here!?"

I froze. Again.

"Oh my God." She cackled. "You like him."

I scowled. "Shut up."

"YOU. LIKE. HIM."

she says again, emphasizing on every syllable like I can't understand words, further provoking me with a shit eating grin.

I sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of my nose. "Dara-"

She held up a hand. "No, no, let me have this. You're standing outside his workplace like some broody love interest in a drama."
