Chapter 67: Fairy Lights and First Kisses

Start from the beginning

“Oh my god,” he moans, “this is art.”
I snicker, popping open a can of beer. “I take it you’re happy?”

Jin hyung grabs my hand dramatically. “I will never forget this moment, Kim Taehyung.”

I roll my eyes, but my smile won’t fade.
We eat, talk, and laugh, completely at ease.

Hyung dramatizes every single bite, describing each flavor like he’s a food critic.

When I wrap myself in his hoodie—because it smells like him and it’s warm—he just grins, letting me snuggle into it.

And then as if it’s the most natural thing in the world—
Hyung steals a fry from my plate.

I gasp.
“Hyung!” I clutch my plate protectively. “That was mine!”

Jin hyung smirks.
And before I can react, he leans in—
And kisses me.

Mid-bite.

I freeze.

His lips press against mine, warm and soft, and for a split second, I forget how to breathe.

My heart stumbles, my entire body melting into his touch.

Then he pulls away, grinning.

"You taste better," he teases, stealing another fry.

I short-circuit.

Mouth full, cheeks burning, I flail. “HYUNG—”

Jin hyung just laughs, dodging my attempt to swat at him.

I groan, dramatically collapsing into the cushions, still burning.

Jin hyung leans over me, grinning. “I win.”

I glare up at him, but I’m smiling. “You’re impossible.”

After we’re full and slightly tipsy from the beer, we just sit—watching the sky, hands tangled between us.

Jin hyung tilts his head back, sighing in contentment. “This was a perfect date.”

I hum, squeezing his fingers. “I wanted it to be.”

He turns his head, studying me. “Why?”

I blink, caught off guard. “What do you mean?”

Hyung’s voice softens. “Why did you plan all this? The market, the ice skating, the rooftop…?”

I chew on my lip.

Then—
I answer honestly.

“Because you deserve it, hyung.”

Jin hyung stills.

I swallow. “You do so much for everyone. You take care of us, you love us so well. I wanted to do something just for you.”

Hyung doesn’t speak.
He just… looks at me.
So I keep going.

“And…” I exhale, suddenly feeling everything all at once. “Because I wanted to thank you.”

Jin hyung’s brows furrow slightly. “For what?”

I take a deep breath.

“For fighting for me,” I say, voice trembling slightly. “For standing by my side. For protecting me when no one else did.”

Jin hyung blinks.
I keep going.

“For being there when I needed you. For helping me get away from them. For making sure they were put away.”

My throat tightens. “For believing in me when I didn’t believe in myself.”

Jin hyung swallows.
And then, quieter—
