The hostess leads us to a private booth tucked in the corner, giving us the perfect view of the stage but enough privacy to drown in this bubble of luxury Tae's crafted.
As we settle in, Taehyung helps me remove my coat, draping it over the booth before sliding in beside me, too close, too warm.
I'm hyper-aware of how his thigh brushes against mine, how his arm casually rests along the back of the booth behind me.
"Wow," I breathe, soaking it all in.
"You like it?" His voice is softer now, gentle.
I nod. "I love it."
His answering smile is proud but quiet, and it makes my chest tighten.
A server appears, and Tae immediately orders for both of us. "Aged whiskey for me," he says, then glances at me with a playful twinkle. "And for the queen?"
I raise an eyebrow. "Surprise me."
Taehyung leans toward the server, murmuring something low enough that I can't hear. The server smiles knowingly and walks away.
"You're scheming again," I accuse.
"Always," he grins, leaning back against the booth.
When the drinks arrive-mine is a rich espresso martini, cold and smooth-I hum in approval after my first sip.
"You do know me," I admit.
Tae's eyes darken just slightly. "Noona, I know everything about you."
The heat behind his words makes me glance away, but he tilts my chin back toward him gently. "Don't hide from me."
God, this man.
As the band begins playing a sultry jazz melody, we fall into quiet conversation, the kind that lingers and pulls deeper than surface-level chatter.
"You ever think about it?" Tae asks softly after a beat.
"Think about what?" I reply, sipping my martini.
He swirls the amber liquid in his glass, eyes locked on it like it holds the universe.
"All of us. The soulmate thing."
My heart slows, heavy with understanding. "All the time."
He leans back, voice dropping as the jazz band swells softly in the background.
"Sometimes I still can't believe it. That I get to have you. Yoongi Hyung..." He pauses, gaze flickering toward me, eyes softer now. "Jin hyung and Joon hyung too."
