Chapter 55: Ground Zero ⚠️

Start from the beginning

Hyung Sik, the private investigator, nodded.
"I'll start looking into hospital visits from your childhood. If your uncle made excuses every time, there should be a pattern in the records."

Ji Woo's voice remained gentle, reassuring.
"And even if you didn't go to the hospital every time, your body still remembers. If needed, we can conduct a forensic medical evaluation to prove past injuries."

Tae swallowed again, but his nod was firmer this time.

Seojun, the civil lawyer, added,
"Beyond criminal charges, these records are also essential for the civil lawsuit. They prove long-term suffering and trauma, which increases the damages they'll have to pay."

Yoongi scoffed under his breath.
"Good. Make them pay for every single thing they did to him."

Namjoon's fingers curled into a fist. His voice, when he spoke, was low and lethal.
"They won't get away with it."

Oppa's smirk was razor-sharp.
"Oh, they won't."

Tae exhaled slowly. His fingers loosened their grip on his bear, just slightly.

Woo Shik moved on.
"Next-Witness Testimonies."

He glanced at Tae.

"We know that Jiwon and his parents can testify. They saw your condition after you ran away, helped you recover, and can confirm your mental state."

Tae nodded quickly.
"Jiwon saved my life," he admitted.
"He... he saw everything."

Yoongi's hand curled into a fist. I knew he wanted to hit something.

Namjoon inhaled deeply, fighting for control.

Oppa, always composed, nodded.
"Jiwon's testimony will be one of our strongest. His parents as well, since they took you in."

Woo Shik continued.
"Then there's The Cook. If she helped you escape, she's a crucial witness to your imprisonment and abuse."
Tae's breath stilled.

"I... I don't know if she's still there." His voice wavered. "I don't know what happened to her."

Hyung Sik spoke up.

"I'll find her." His voice was steady, confident. "If she's still in the country, I'll track her down."

Tae exhaled shakily.
"Thank you."

Namjoon's grip on his arm tightened for a moment before slowly relaxing.

Woo Shik moved to the final point.
"Legal Documents-Will & Debt Papers. This is key for the financial fraud charges."

Seojun's expression sharpened.
"Taehyung, do you remember ever seeing your parents' original will?"

Tae shook his head.

"No. My uncle always told me that it left everything to them-that it was my parents' decision." His hands trembled slightly.

"I only found out later that they forced me to sign a revised one."

Jin Oppa's eyes darkened.
"Which is where Forensic Handwriting Analysis comes in." His voice was like a blade.

"We'll prove your signature and thumbprint were forced."

Hyung Sik smirked.

"And I'll dig into their financial records. Every stolen cent will be accounted for."

Woo Shik nodded.
"That brings us to the last piece of Step One-Financial Records. We need to track exactly how much was stolen."

Seojun turned toward Tae.
"Do you have any idea how much they took?"
