Chapter 52: Steady, Sure, & Absolutely Lethal

Start from the beginning

Yoongi reads the message, then-
He smiles too.

And that's when it hits me-

How big this is.
How much progress this is.

Namjoon, checking in on us.
Namjoon, reaching out first.
Namjoon, who spent all night teasing and laughing and choosing to be here.

I glance back at Yoongi, and we share a look-one that says we'll tell Tae everything tomorrow.

For now, we let him sleep.

So instead, we settle into the couch together, quietly replying to Namjoon's message.

Y/N
We're home. Glad you made it back too 😊

And then, just as I'm about to put my phone away-
Another message comes in.

Namjoon
Goodnight, Y/N. Goodnight, Yoongi. Say Goodnight to Taehyung for me. 😊

Yoongi huffs softly beside me. "He's so polite."

I giggle, nudging him lightly. "Say goodnight back."

Yoongi rolls his eyes-but does it anyway.

And just like that, with a quiet sense of happiness humming between us, we say goodnight to Namjoon.

We're excited to tell Tae.

Excited about this.
Excited about him.

Yeontan pressed between us, his tiny body warm against my side. His breathing is soft and steady, already half-asleep.

And for a moment, I just breathe.

Tonight has been everything.

Namjoon, the way he looked at us, the way he chose to be with us. The way Yoongi welcomed him in. The way something shifted in all of us.

I feel Yoongi shift slightly beside me, adjusting so that his arm drapes across my waist, his fingers tracing slow, absentminded circles against my hip.

It's comforting, familiar, the kind of touch that feels like home.

I sigh, tilting my head to rest against his shoulder. "Tonight was good."

Yoongi hums, his lips brushing the top of my head. "Yeah. It was."

I smile, my fingers finding his under the blanket draped over us. "Did you expect to like him this much?"

He exhales a quiet laugh. "Honestly?" He shifts slightly, his nose nudging against my hair. "I don't think I expected to like him at all."

I snort. "Oh my god."

Yoongi grins. "Hey, you know how I am. And I was very pissed how he kept avoiding us"

I do. I know.
Yoongi doesn't warm up to people easily. He's careful with his heart, careful with who he lets in.

But Namjoon-
Something about him must have felt safe to Yoongi too.

Because tonight, I watched Yoongi lean into something he normally wouldn't.

I watched him fluster under Namjoon's gaze, watched him smile at the way Namjoon teased him, watched him choose to stay in that moment instead of retreating.

And I know what that means.

I squeeze his hand. "You like him."

Yoongi sighs. "I do."

I grin. "And he definitely likes you."

Yoongi groans, hiding his face in my shoulder. "Don't start."

I laugh, shifting so I can look at him properly. "Yoongi, he spent all night making you shy on purpose."

He lifts his head just enough to glare at me. "You're enjoying this too much."

I smirk. "Oh, absolutely."

Yoongi rolls his eyes, but there's no real annoyance in it. Just fondness.

We settle into something softer then, our breaths slowing, our fingers tracing absentminded shapes against each other's skin.

Eventually, Yoongi murmurs, "What about Jin hyung?"

I pause.
Jin.

I exhale, thinking. "I like him so much too but," I admit. "It's weird, right? Dara She's engaged to him-"

"I know and we don't want to hurt her and with Taehyung's case ongoing, I think we'd bite more that we can chew if we explore it now with him" Yoongi quips, his voice laced in thoughtfulness and concern

I huff. "Still. I love talking to him, we love talking to him and being with him and it seems like he does too"

Yoongi nods. "I know. I truly believe we'll get there someday. I feel it."

I hum, considering that. "He makes me calm and it feels right with him, do you feel that too"

Yoongi is quiet for a moment.
Then-
"Most definitely."

I glance up at him, searching his face. "Really?"

He nods. "it's crazy how it feels so right...with Jin hyung and Namjoon, I just-" He exhales. "I think I'm at that point where I wouldn't want to lose them."

Something warm spreads in my chest.
Because I do too.

I reach up, brushing my fingers lightly along his jaw. "I'm happy," I whisper.

Yoongi tilts his head slightly, letting me trace my touch along his skin. "Yeah?"

I nod. "Right now. With you. With Tae. With everything."

His eyes soften. "Me too."

I let my fingers trail lower, along the column of his throat. "I love you."

Something flickers in his expression-something warm and deep.

And then-
He smiles.

That slow, soft, gummy smile that always undoes me completely.

"I love you too."

And then-
He kisses me.

It starts slow, lazy, his lips brushing against mine in a way that's more affection than anything else.

I sigh softly into it, and something shifts.

Yoongi's grip on my waist tightens, his fingers curling against my skin. His mouth parts slightly, coaxing mine open with his.

The kiss deepens.

It's slow, unhurried-but there's weight behind it.

A wanting.
A knowing.
A quiet claiming.

I slide my hand into his hair, feeling the way he shudders slightly under my touch.

His lips move against mine in a way that's practiced, familiar-but still burns in the best way.

I feel his tongue tease against my bottom lip, a question, and I answer with a soft sigh, letting him in.

The taste of him is warm and comforting, something I could drown in if I let myself.

I press closer, letting my other hand wander under the hem of his sweater, feeling the heat of his skin beneath my palm.

Yoongi groans quietly into my mouth, his grip on my waist pulling me in tighter.

And god-If Tae weren't sleeping in the next room, I know this would go further.

But for now-
This is enough.
This is everything.

Yoongi tilts his head, deepening the kiss again, his teeth catching my bottom lip before soothing it with his tongue.

I whimper softly, and Yoongi reacts-pressing me further into the couch, his body slotting perfectly against mine.

The heat between us lingers, slow and steady, as we continue kissing, lips moving in sync, breaths mingling, hearts thrumming in tandem.

And for a while, nothing else exists.
Just this.
Just us.

And as the night deepens, we stay there-wrapped up in each other, kissing slowly, softly, endlessly-until we're too tired to do anything else.
