Chapter 51: No More Holding Back

The party's noise fades behind us, leaving only the distant hum of music and the soft rustling of leaves.

Suga exhales, shoving his hands into his pockets. "Tae's gonna lose his mind when he finds out we actually talked," he mutters.

I chuckle, glancing at him. "What, was he betting against it?"

He scoffs. "He had zero faith. He kept saying we'd just stare at each other like awkward teenagers until one of us made an excuse to leave."

I smirk. "So he thinks we'd be awkward?"

"You are awkward."

"You're shy," I counter smoothly.

Yoongi blinks, his ears turning pink. "I am not-"

"You are," I tease, stepping just slightly into his space. "You've been flustered this entire conversation."

His lips part, as if he wants to protest-but no words come out.

And damn, he really is cute when he's caught off guard.

I tilt my head, watching him closely. "Huh," I murmur, more to myself than anything.

Suga frowns. "What?"

"I just didn't expect you to be like this."

"Like what?"

"Shy."

His whole body tenses.

And then-just like before-he looks away, his fingers tightening around the edge of his jacket pocket. "I'm not shy."

I grin, fully enjoying this now. "Oh, you so are."

"I will walk away," he warns, though it holds no real threat.

I hum thoughtfully, leaning just slightly closer, lowering my voice. "But you won't."

He exhales sharply, but he doesn't move.
And that's how I know I'm right.

This thing between us-it's real.
I don't think either of us expected it to feel like this, though.

For a long moment, neither of us say anything.

His eyes flicker to mine, just barely.

And that's when I see it-
The hesitation. The attraction.

The way he wants to step back, but something in him refuses to move away from me.

I want to ruin him.

"I meant what I said earlier," I murmur, watching him closely.

Suga blinks. "What?"

"That you're good-looking."

His throat bobs. "You can stop bringing that up now."

"But I don't want to," I say, biting my lip. "I like watching you squirm."
