Chapter 49: Proof, Power, and Payback ⚠️

Start from the beginning

Yi Jun nodded. "Given the financial status of the Choi family, we assumed-"

Ah.
There it was.
A slow chuckle escaped Seokjin's lips.

"The Choi family?"

Yi Jun nodded, straightening his tie. "Yes, sir. We assumed your firm might be representing them-"

The smile faded instantly.
And the temperature in the room dropped.

Yi Jun stopped.
Lim stiffened.
Seokjin's voice was quiet.
Lethal.

"You thought I was here for them? The Chois? Mr. Kim Taehyung's Aunt and Uncle, correct? the same exact Chois that abused, manipulated, coerced and dehumanized him. Those Chois?"

Silence.
A thick, suffocating silence.

He chuckled again, but it was cold now.

"So let me get this straight," he murmured.

"Not only did you turn Mr. Kim Taehyung and his soulmates away because he lacked wealth, but you also-what? Tipped off his abusers?"

Neither denied it.

His jaw tensed.

Seokjin's fingers tapped the table, slow, calculated.

"Tell me," he murmured. "Did they appreciate your generosity?"

The implication was clear.
They had been rewarded.

Paid off.
For dismissing a boy who had already been chewed up and spat out by the system.

Yi Jun paled. "Mr. Kim-"

Seokjin scoffed. "Oh, don't be shy now."

He stared straight at them, his tone ice-cold. "Did they compensate you for betraying a boy who's already lost everything?"

Yi Jun opened his mouth-probably to deny it-but Seokjin chuckled.

Low. Dangerous.

"How much was his suffering worth to you?"

Neither man answered.

His smile vanished.
His hands curled into fists.
And then-he stood.

The power crashed down onto the room.

Kim Seokjin was no longer a man.
He was a storm.

The atmosphere turned suffocating.
And when he spoke, his voice was no longer quiet.

"I should ruin you."

Yi Jun's breath hitched.
"I should ensure you never win another case in this country again."

Seokjin stepped closer, his presence suffocating.

"I should take this firm apart-piece by piece-block your clients, drain your accounts, make sure every single one of your cases from this moment forward ends in humiliation and make sure your careers never recover."

Yi Jun gripped the table. "You can't-"

Jin smirks. "I can."

CEO Lim exhaled sharply. "Mr. Kim-"

"You underestimate me." he murmurs.

Seokjin's voice was soft, almost amused.
"You think my power is in my wealth? My firm? My name?"

His voice dropped into something lethal.
"My power is that I never fucking lose."

CEO Lim tried to gather himself. "Mr. Kim, let's be reasonable-"

Seokjin smiled.

It was the most dangerous expression they had ever seen.

"Reasonable?" he echoed.
