Chapter 49: Proof, Power, and Payback ⚠️

Start from the beginning

Power radiated from him-not in the desperate way lesser men flaunted wealth or influence, but in the quiet, undeniable way of a man who never had to prove himself.

His bespoke suit was tailored perfectly to his frame, the Rolex on his wrist subtle but menacing, a mark of wealth and power he didn't need to speak aloud.

Every step was deliberate. Every breath controlled.

The conference room, once filled with their anticipation, now belonged to him.

Seokjin didn't rush.
He didn't speak.

He simply existed in the space-his presence alone commanding the air.

Yi Jun and CEO Lim exchanged a glance.

They straightened in their seats, their eyes flickering with a mixture of eagerness and uncertainty.

Seokjin reached the head of the table, lowering himself into the chair with the kind of slow, effortless composure that made it clear-he was not here for them.

He was here to destroy them.

Seokjin crossed one leg over the other. Adjusted his cuffs.Then-finally-he lifted his gaze.

Silence.
A perfect, suffocating silence.

He let it stretch.
Let it settle.

But still-Yi Jun recovered quickly, pasting on his most polished smile. "Mr. Kim, thank you for making time to meet with us. We were delighted to receive your request."

Seokjin merely tilted his head slightly, as if amused.

CEO Lim cleared his throat. "If I may ask-what matter brings you to us today?"

A pause.

Then-soft, smooth, lethal-Seokjin spoke.

"Do you remember Kim Taehyung's case?"

The room froze.

Yi Jun blinked.
Beside him, CEO Lim frowned slightly, processing the unexpected turn.

A pause.

Yi Jun cleared his throat, offering a smooth, corporate smile. "Ah, Kim Taehyung... yes. A young man, along with his two soulmates, who sought legal counsel regarding an inheritance dispute. I believe we reviewed his case a few weeks ago."

Seokjin tilted his head slightly. "Reviewed?"

"Yes," Yi Jun nodded, shifting in his seat. "After careful consideration, we determined that the case did not hold enough legal merit to proceed."

Silence.

Seokjin exhaled softly, shaking his head. "No, that's not quite right."

Yi Jun's brows furrowed. "Excuse me?"

Leaning forward slightly, Seokjin's voice was smooth-dangerously smooth.

"You didn't determine anything."

Yi Jun tensed.

"You dismissed him."

His voice remained calm, but the weight behind it pressed heavy against the air.

"You looked at a broken, desperate young man-a victim of fraud and years of abuse-and you sent him away."

CEO Lim shifted uncomfortably.
Yi Jun started to speak, but Seokjin raised a hand.

He shuts up.

"I want to understand something," Seokjin murmured, his fingers tapping lightly against the table.
