Chapter 49: Proof, Power, and Payback ⚠️

Start from the beginning

I grip my pen tighter.

Jisoo arches a brow. "You're signing with enough force to pierce through the paper."

I inhale sharply and loosen my grip.

Jisoo's eyes narrow slightly, assessing. "Bad case?"

I glance at her, hesitating. Jisoo has worked with me long enough to know when something's eating at me.

But this?
This is mine.

I exhale through my nose. "Something like that."

She studies me for a second longer before shrugging. "Alright, boss. Just don't break anything."

With that, she's gone.

The door shuts.
And I-
I exhale.

I press my palms against the desk, head hanging low, breath heavy.

No. I am not okay.

Because I know exactly what I am feeling.
And it terrifies me.

Because it's not just rage.
Not just anger for what happened to Taehyung.

It's them.
All three of them.

It's the way Yoongi carries his fury like a blade hidden beneath soft velvet. His rage is quiet, but it is deadly, waiting to be unsheathed. He holds himself back, but I see it.

I saw it when I said I'd take the case.
Saw the flicker of something in his gaze-trust, maybe.

Saw the way his fingers tightened in his lap before he shook my hand.
Like he had been waiting for me.

And Y/N.
Jesus, Y/N.

She is warmth wrapped in steel.

The way she looked at Taehyung, like she could shield him with nothing but her love alone.

Like she was built for this fight, even though it would break her.

And the way she looked at me.
A gaze that lingered-questioning, searching, something unspoken settling between us.

And then-
Taehyung.

My jaw clenches.

That boy-
That boy deserves the entire fucking world.

His laughter was hesitant, but real. His words were uncertain, but determined.

And when he called me hyung-
I nearly reached for him.

I don't reach for people.

But with him-
It almost happened before I could stop myself.

My stomach twists.
Because this isn't professional.
This is personal.

And I don't know how to handle that.
But one thing is very, very clear.
I will win this case.

Not just for Taehyung's sake.

For them.
For us.

Because anyone who makes them hurt can go to hell.

And I will make sure of it.

I grab my phone and dial Jisoo's extension. She picks up on the first ring.

"Boss?"

"Find me the office address for Lim & Ko Legal Services." My voice is smooth, professional, but beneath it-the fire is still there.

There's a pause.

Then-Jisoo hums. "That's the firm that handled Taehyung's case before, right?"

I smirk despite myself. She's quick.
