Chapter 48: A Reckoning in Motion ⚠️

Start from the beginning

He keeps going.

The escape. The cook. The hospital.
The lawsuit.

And finally-
The reason we're here.

"They have everything," Taehyung says, voice tight. "Every last bit of money my parents left for me. They stole it. And they're thriving because of it."

Silence.
Thick. Suffocating.

Jin exhales through his nose, slow and measured, but his hands-his hands have curled into fists.

"I see," he says. His voice is level. Too level.
Calm.

Dangerously calm.

I glance at Yoongi, and I can tell-he hears it too.
The storm beneath the surface.

Then Jin leans back, closing his eyes briefly before meeting Taehyung's gaze head-on.

"They will pay for this."
A promise.
A quiet, deadly promise.

Yoongi exhales sharply, like he's finally found someone who shares the weight of his fury.

Jin's eyes flick to him, and for a brief second, something unspoken passes between them.

An understanding.
A silent, shared resolve.

And for the first time since we stepped into this office-
I feel it.

Not just anger.
Not just pain.
But something else.
Something new.

Hope.

The rage is there.

Lurking beneath Jin's polished composure, burning behind his eyes.

But he doesn't let it show.
Not fully.

Instead, he straightens, exhales slowly, and when he speaks-
His voice is smooth, controlled.

Professional.

But sharp enough to cut through steel.

"First," he says, looking at Taehyung directly, "I need to know what you want from this lawsuit."

Taehyung blinks. "What I want?"

Jin nods. "This is your case. Your decision. Do you want to go after your inheritance? Hold them accountable for fraud? Pursue charges for abuse?"

He pauses. "Or all of the above?"

Yoongi scoffs, his grip tightening on Taehyung's knee. "All of the above. No fucking question."

Jin's lips twitch, the closest thing to amusement he's shown. "I thought so."
He turns back to Taehyung.

But Taehyung-
He hesitates.

I squeeze his hand, searching his face.

"Tae?" I whisper gently.

His throat bobs. "I... I don't know."

Yoongi stiffens beside him. "What do you mean, you don't know?"

Taehyung looks down at his lap, his fingers twisting together. "I want them to pay," he says quietly. "I want to get my inheritance back. But... the trial, the media, the attention-" His breath shakes. "I don't know if I can handle it."

Jin studies him carefully.
Then-he nods.

"That's fair."
His voice is soothing. Calm. Not pushing, not pressuring. Just listening.

Taehyung glances at him, surprised.

Jin leans forward slightly, his tone gentle but firm. "Lawsuits can be exhausting. Emotionally and mentally. You'll have to relive everything in court. They'll fight back, drag you through the mud, try to make you look like the villain."
