Chapter 47: Of Court Cases and Couch Spaces

Start from the beginning

She moves around the desk and takes a seat, lacing her fingers together.
"Alright. Let's talk next steps."

Yoongi and I straighten in our seats, ready.

"First," Dara begins, "we set up a meeting. My fiancé wants to hear Taehyung's story from him directly-if that's something he's comfortable with."

"He will be," I say, nodding. "We'll talk to him, but I know he'll want to be part of this."

Yoongi leans forward slightly. "And if he decides to take the case?"

"Then we move-fast." Dara's eyes flash with determination. "We gather evidence, we meet the current witnesses and let's see if we can get more. We build a solid case, and we go after those bastards with everything we have."

There's a quiet fire in her voice, something fierce and unwavering.

"And if he doesn't?" I ask, voice hesitant.

"Then he'll still be involved as a consultant," Dara assures us.

"He'll help guide the case, make sure nothing gets missed. And he'll personally choose the lawyer who takes over. Someone good. Someone who will actually fight."

Yoongi exhales, nodding. "That's more than we could have asked for."

Dara leans back in her chair, eyeing us both. "You guys were ready to go to war for Taehyung, weren't you?"

"Of course we were," I say, no hesitation.

Yoongi nods. "He's ours."

Something flickers across Dara's face.

A sort of understanding.

"You know," she says, tilting her head. "I didn't get it before."

I frown slightly. "Get what?"

She shrugs. "The whole soulmates thing. The way you two fight for him. The way you love him like it's second nature-even though he's still so new to your bond."

Her voice lowers slightly.
"I get it now."

There's something almost... wistful in her tone.

And for a brief moment, I wonder-isn't her fiance her soulmate too?

I don't ask.
Because right now, this isn't about that.

"He's family now," I say simply.

Dara smiles. "Yeah. I can see that."

She claps her hands together, her usual energy returning. "Alright. You talk to Taehyung. Let me know when he's ready to meet my fiancé, and I'll set it up."

"We will," Yoongi says, standing.

I follow suit, but before we leave, I hesitate.

Then-before I can second-guess myself-I step forward and hug her.

Dara stiffens slightly, like she wasn't expecting it.

Then she laughs and pats my back. "God, you're so soft. This is what I get for befriending you."

Yoongi smirks. "She's a hugger. Get used to it."

"Apparently," Dara mutters, but there's fondness in her tone.

I pull back, smiling.
"I really do love you, Dara."

She sighs, dramatically flipping her hair. "Ugh. I know. My curse."

Yoongi shakes his head, amused. "We'll text you once we talk to Tae."

"Good," she says, then points at us. "Now go be good soulmates and tell him the good news."
