Because what else is there to say?
We're failing him.

We just don't know what to do about it.

The next morning, I meet Yeona for coffee. It's supposed to be casual, just catching up, but I should've known better.

Yeona always knows when something is off.

"You're quiet," she observes, stirring her drink. "That's never a good sign."

I let out a tired laugh. "Just tired."

She hums, unconvinced. "How's Tae?"

I pause.

Then, quietly, "He's okay."
And he is.

Taehyung has no idea that things aren't moving forward.

We haven't told him.

Because what the fuck are we supposed to say? Hey, remember how we told you we'd fight for you? Yeah, turns out we're useless and nothing is happening.

So we keep pretending. We keep smiling.

We keep telling him that things are in progress, that these things take time.

And he believes us. Because he trusts us.

Yeona watches me carefully. "And you?"

I sigh. "Frustrated. Helpless. We're getting nothing from the lawyers. No real updates, no progress. We don't have enough witnesses, and legally, they're making it seem like Taehyung signing those papers was his choice."

Yeona's brows furrow. "That's bullshit."

"I know."

She's quiet for a moment, thinking. Then-"Would you guys be open to reaching out to Dara?"

I freeze.

"Dara?"

"Her fiancé is a criminal lawyer. A really good one." She meets my eyes. "Even if he can't take the case, he might be able to give you legal advice. Or at least recommend someone who can actually help."

Dara, who is practically perfect.

Dara, who I admire and resent in equal measure because she is infuriatingly brilliant and beautiful and charming.

Dara, who has never been anything but kind to me. Who has been nothing but supportive of our team and our work on LoveMap.
