Chapter 42: Operation Sibling Love

Start from the beginning

Then, slowly-
He nods.

Yoongi squeezes his knee. "Good."
And that's that.

Operation Sibling Love was working somehow.

Slowly.

Painstakingly.

But it's working.

It starts small.

A few days after we put up the screen separating the living room and bedroom, we expected Wacha to completely ignore Yeontan.

Which, to be fair, she mostly did.

But then-

We caught her sleeping at the edge of the screen.

And right on the other side?

Yeontan.

Curled up, his tiny paws twitching in his sleep, just inches away from her.

Taehyung gasped so loudly that Yoongi had to clap a hand over his mouth.

"They're bonding," Taehyung whispered, eyes shining.

I grinned, nudging Yoongi. "I told you she'd warm up to him."

Yoongi snorted. "Let's not get ahead of ourselves. She still looks like she's debating if she should smother him in his sleep."

I elbowed him, but Taehyung just giggled, shaking his head fondly.

"I think she likes him."

And honestly?

I was starting to think so too.

A few days later, we decide to remove the screen.

It's a nerve-wracking moment.

Wacha watches us with thinly veiled judgment as we hesitantly pull the screen away.

Yeontan, on the other hand, is thrilled.

The second he realizes there's nothing stopping him anymore, he darts forward

And promptly starts following Wacha around like her tiny, fluffy shadow.

The first few hours are touch and go.

Wacha keeps glancing back at him like she's this close to filing a restraining order.

Yeontan, completely undeterred, keeps trotting behind her with his little tail wagging like she's the best thing he's ever seen.

Yoongi watches all of this, arms crossed. "That dog has no survival instincts."

Taehyung pouts. "He just loves her."

"Love isn't always mutual," Yoongi deadpans.

Taehyung gasps, clutching his chest. "Take that back."

Yoongi just smirks, watching as Wacha finally jumps onto her favorite chair, eyes narrowing at Yeontan as if to say, That's enough for today, peasant.
