That was a start.
We sat there in silence for a moment, joined hands, his fingers still gently caressing mine and I glanced at him, my heart thudding loudly in my chest.
I couldn't help it; there was something magnetic about him.
Even in the dim light of the office, with that soft glow outlining his features, I couldn't help but notice how incredibly handsome he was.
The sharp angles of his face, the way his eyes held a mixture of seriousness and playfulness-it was enough to make my insides feel like they were on fire.
"Are you still thinking about how hot I look in this hoodie?" he asked, his voice teasing.
I snorted, surprised at how easily he could make me laugh even in the middle of an intense conversation. "It's a good hoodie," I muttered, trying not to smile too hard.
Suga raised an eyebrow. "Just 'good'? Damn, I thought it was a great hoodie."
"I said good," I teased back, my nervousness giving way to the familiar banter we'd shared for so long. "You've got to work harder for the 'great' compliment, Suga."
He chuckled, his eyes lighting up in a way that made my heart skip another beat. "I'll work on it. But for now, just... don't overthink this. Let's see where it goes. We'll figure it out together. I promise you, I'm in this with you."
I swallowed, finally feeling a sense of peace settle over me, even as the uncertainty remained.
Maybe this wouldn't be easy.
Maybe it would be messy and complicated, but as Suga looked at me, that quiet confidence in his eyes, I felt like for once, maybe we could make it work.
"Okay," I whispered, my heart still racing.
"I'm ready to try," I whispered.
Suga leaned in closer, his eyes glinting with that familiar, playful light. "Good. Because I've been waiting for you to say that."
Before I could stop myself, I blurted, "Wait. You've been waiting for me to-"
"Yes," he cut in with the most beautiful gummy smile I have ever come across, I've never seen this smile.
I almost lost my breath, my heart thumping and speeding a 100 miles an hour.
"and now that you've taken the first step, how about you take another one with me? I think it's time you and I went out for a date. A real one. A soulmate date."
I stared at him, blinking in disbelief.
"A date? Are you serious?"
"I'm serious," he said, his voice warm and sincere. "I don't know where this will go, but I'm not going to let you figure it out alone. Let's start this right-together. What do you say?"
I felt my heart skip a beat.
He was offering me something real. Something more than just the connection or the app.
I swallowed hard, then managed to answer, "Okay. A date sounds good."
Suga's gummy smile widened, this man is the death of me and I swear I saw a flicker of genuine relief in his eyes.
