Chapter Twenty-Three (23)

Start from the beginning

She instantly ran to the unconscious girl in the side of the room and felt her pulse, it was still there thankfully. The girl's clothes bundled up in a ball, stained with some blood and Linda began looking for an ID, after all you need one to prove you were 16+. She felt a rectangle in a pocket and took out a school identification card. "Alexandra Marie Bolton. Age 17," she read to herself out loud.

She heard some sirens outside and began dressing this girl named Alexandra. Police scrambled upstairs and I heard handcuffs click. "I need help!" Linda yelled, stepping out to the hallway to see the cops arresting the man that previously attacked her.

"Yes ma'am?" a chubby policeman said from behind her.

"There's a girl in that room, her name is Alexandra. I saw him beating her, she's unconscious and she desperatley needs help." she couldn't speak the words fast enough. Everything was a blur after that.

Alex's P.O.V.

I woke up in a police car. "What am I doing here?" I asked myself, beginning to remember the events before I passed out. My eyes teared up and I banged on the windows. "Let me out," I shouted. A cop turned around in his seat and put a hand on my shoulder, without meaning too I flinched. He looked hurt, but understanding.

"We're just bringing you to the hospital, we need to run some tests. After that we'll bring you home if the doctors allow it, are you hungry?" he asked me.

Although I was dying for something to eat I shook my head stubbornly. It was already a blow to my pride to be treated the way I did and have someone see me in that situation. Having them buy and feed food would just shatter the one puzzle piece that was still intact. He gave me a look of sympathy and turned back around. Hot tears stained my face and I covered my face to cry in peace.

The hospital light was blinding to me when I stepped in and one the cops went up to the nurse to speak to her. A look of pity and sadness fell over her eyes and she looked at me, I looked away. "Ms. Bolton, may I ask you some questions?" the cop with me asked.

I shrugged, keeping my head down.

"Were you alone at the time you came in the club."

I shook my head, "I was with Gina. She disappeared after we got there though." That reminded me, where was Gina? I patted my pocket for my phone, it was gone. Why wasn't I surprised? Cop number two came over and pulled me up.

"They can see you now, Alexandra. Let's go."

"Why do I need to be tested?"

"It will be good for trial, we'll have physical evidence," he explained leading me into the double doors. I couldn't help but feel a hint of anger for Gina, after all if she didn't pressure me into going to the club I could have been home sleeping and none of this shit would've happened.

I blanked out the entire time I was being X-rayed and my bones were being checked out. I couldn't help it but take the lollipop that was offered to me after the two-hour visit. The taste of strawberry washed away the vile taste of blood I had in my mouth.

"Now, you said you were with a Gina. What's her last name and do you remember her phone number?" the cop that was previously asking me question said.

"Gina Sanchez I believe. I don't know her phone number but she goes to ACP. Campus D room 25D. Why?"

"We need to question her." he said as the car pulled up at Sam and Meghan's house. I had told them the address and they put it in their GPS. One of them opened the door for me and rang the doorbell. Meghan answered the door, giving me a questioning look to know why I was with a cop.

"Mrs. Bolton?"

"No, it's Meghan Wright. What's wrong with Alexandra?"

"Alexandra was found lying unconscious upstairs in a local teen club by an employee named Linda Joules. Doctors need her back in two weeks to run more tests on her." Meghan craddled me in a bone-crushing hug, I was sure I'd have broken ribs. The cop, seeing I'd be in good care, left.

"You're staying on bed rest. Are you alright? Of course you're not. Do you want anything?" Meghan asked, worry in her voice.

"I just need some sleep." I said, pulling away from her. That night I sleeped a dreamless sleep.

Catherine came up to me as soon as I walked up the school and jumped up and down, expecting me to jump with her. I didn't. "Your boyfriend's back in campus," she grinned.

"I don't have a boyfriend." I said without cracking a smile. Catherine stopped jumping and gave me a confused look.

"What's wrong with you? You don't look the same, you look . . . dead."

"Thanks, that makes me feel better." I said, walking where the crowd of people was. I pushed myself toward the front and saw Keith there, smiling and greeting people. He saw me and walked over to me and gave me a quick kiss in front of anyone. I couldn't blame him since he didn't know what I'd gone through but I didn't want affection right now.

"I'm sorry, I have to go," I said walking away from the crowd and into the school. I heard whispers like "What's her problem?" and "If I were her I'd be grateful to have Keith acknowlegde me." If they only knew.

I'm praying this makes it to three pages, if it doesn't I'm going to get mad. ANYWAY, I'm bumping vote requirements to 20 and I keep forgetting this, I honestly DK how but THANK YOU FOR GETTING ME ON WHAT'S HOT YOU GUYS! xoxoxo
