Platonically in Love

The wrongness it feels to say it's in love,
And yet no romanticism is involved,
My heart is beating from joy and fascination,
And yet, my love has forever evolved.

Love is such a strange concept,
Society pushes standards for romance and all,
And while I love love of all kinds,
There's only one in which I currently fall.

Not the love of kisses and sensuality,
Not the love of hand-holding bliss,
But the love of company and compassion,
The love of my ever-growing friendship.

I'm in love in the way a spider is to a frog,
The way the ravens are to the wolves surprise,
A love of genuinity and mutual devotion,
In love the way the grass meets the sky.

Society paints pictures of true loves kiss,
Love meant for doves, the release of white birds,
But I'm in love with my bestfriend,
No romance needed to express my words.

In love is the smiles we share with ugly laughter,
While love is a concept, forever I'll explore,
In love is the comfort of presence after,
Love is the life I'll forever adore.
