New Change

There was a long silence after Mikaela's confession. They were only staring deeply at each other without a word.She moved closer and reached out and took his hand, her touch gentle.

"Please say something" she said softly.

Princeton's face remained impassive. He stared at her for a moment, then shook his head.

"I'm sorry, Mikaela," he said, his voice quiet. "But I don't feel the same way"
 
Mikaela's heart sank, and she felt tears welling up in her eyes.

"I know this is difficult for you, But I want to be honest with you. I really do care you,but I don't feel the same way you do" Princeton said, his voice gentle.

Mikaela's heart was breaking, and she tries forcing herself to nod but she couldn't do it. Tears were streaming down her face, and she turned to run out of the room.

She stumbled up the stairs, her hands shaking as she fumbled with the doorknob to her bedroom. She burst through the door and collapsed onto her bed, sobbing into her pillow.

She knew this was gonna happen, she knew a day like this will come but she never expect it to hurt so much? Her heart is hurting so damn much and she wish someone could tell her it's just a dream.

She buried her face more into the pillow, crying her hearts out.

It was the worst moment of her life.

<SAME NIGHT •• LYRIC PLACE>

Granny Lupe just laid both Pearl and Starr to bed, and she covered them with a duvets before walking out of the room slow enough not to wake them up.

She was heading towards her room, when the front door opened and Lyric walked in.

"Darling! You're back!" She smiled, as Lyric drags her feet to the couch, falling on it tiredly.

"Are you okay? How's your dinner meeting?" Granny Lupe asked at once.

"It's got cancelled, seriously I was gonna cry! We were stood up and he had to drop me off, what I hated the most!" She muttered, with sore face.

She pulled off her bag and threw it somewhere.

"Who? Your boss?" Granny Lupe asked, picking it up for her.

Lyric nodded.

"So he drop you off? He's such a great guy!  Is there anything wrong with that?"

"A lot of things granny! What if he found out I has a kids and I'm a single mother, what would he think of me?" She replied.

"And what is wrong with being a single mother with two kids? It's blessings you have not some kinda disgrace!" Granny Lupe snapped.

Lyric stood up.

"You're right, I was being delusional... The meeting is scheduled till tomorrow, and we're going out of town. I don't even know when we'd be back! I should go to bed now!"

"Why out of town of all places? What should I tell tell the kids if they ask of you?"

"I'm sure they'll understand thier mom's working! Goodnight!!" She gave Granny Lupe a peck before leaving for her room.

<NEXT MORNING>

Mikaela woke up with a pounding headache and a knot in her stomach. She'd barely slept, and the events of the night before were still fresh in her mind. She pulled herself out of bed and headed downstairs, dreading the thought of seeing Princeton.

But when she got to the dinner table, he only saw Leonardo alone eating. She let out a sigh of relief, but her heart was still heavy.

"Good morning!" She muttered slowly, dragging out a chair for herself to seat.

Leonardo nodded in affirmation, but he couldn't help but noticed the dark circle under her eyes. He tried ignoring it, but he couldn't.

As Mikaela poured herself a cup of coffee, she heard the front door open. Her heart jumped into her throat, and she braced herself for the worst.

Like she suspected, it was Princeton.

"Boss!" He bowed immediately he got to them. Mikaela was staring hard at him,but he didn't even acknowledge her presence at all. It's as if she stop existing. What hurt must is he looks fine after what he said last night.

Her eyes were glued to him all through. She's so lost in thought that she doesn't notice the coffee spilling over the side of the mug.

"Mikaela!!" Leonardo half yelled, bringing her back to life.

That was when she feels a hot, wet sensation on her hand. She looks down to see a puddle of coffee forming on the table.

"Oh no!" she says out loud. She quickly grabs a paper towel and starts mopping up the coffee. She's trying to be as quiet as possible, hoping Leo won't notice she's not good.

But as she reaches for another paper towel, she accidentally knock over the sugar bowl, sending sugar spilling across  the table. "Oh no!" she says again, louder this time. She can feel her heart racing as she tries to clean up the mess.

"Seriously? What's going on with you? Are you going through some kinda heartbreak or something? Is this about a guy?" Leonardo asked at once. His voice sounding angrily.

Mikaela placed the sugar bowl on the table and turned to him angrily.

"It was just a honest mistake and you didn't have to raise your voice! And what makes you think this is about a guy?" She replied in the same tone.

"Isn't it obvious? You even cried all night! Have you take a good look at yourself this morning?!" Leonardo scolded angrily.

"I'm not a child, and I can make my own decisions. I'm a grown woman, and I don't need your approval for anything!" Mikaela yelled, her voice filled with rage.

"You have no right to tell me what to do or how to feel!" Without waiting for a response, she turned on her heel and stormed up the stairs, slamming the door behind her.

"Mikaela!!!" Leonardo called after her, but she didn't wait.

"Is a guy really bothering her? I asked because you seems more closer to her" He faced Princeton, who blinks twice before shaking his head.

"It's should better not be! She's too young for that! If this turns out to be true, I'm gonna break every bones in that @sshole body!" He mumbled, and Princeton gulped down emptiness.

"Can you watch over her for tonight?"

Princeton nodded.

"Are you attending the party Nikita is organizing at the fun house tonight?"Eclipse asked Mikaela when she wouldn't talk to her.

"No, you?" Mikaela asked in reply.

"Dave invited me!" Eclipse nodded with a smile.

Mikaela's mind suddenly went to Princeton, if she refused, she'll have to be home with you him.

"I'll come with you!" Mikaela muttered, and Eclipse eyes widened.

"Since when did you start attending parties Micky?"

"I just wanna give it a try, is it a bad idea?" Mikaela asked.

"No, I would really love to have you there!" Eclipse smiled, and Mikaela  rolled her eyes.
