The night sky was still sparkling with the light of fireworks as Lisa remained on one knee, her gaze fixed on the door through which Jennie had just left. Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts, questions, and doubts. She couldn't help but wonder where she went wrong. What could she have done differently to make Jennie say yes to her proposal?

Jisoo approached Lisa and helped her stand up. Her body was as light as a feather, but Jisoo could feel the weight of disappointment in Lisa's heart. No words could bring comfort, so Jisoo chose to sit with her in silence. She couldn't even imagine the pain and confusion that Lisa was going through.

After the fireworks had faded away, Lisa spoke softly, "Where did I go wrong?" Jisoo wished she had an answer to that question, but her mind was blank. All she could do was sit there and support her friend.

Lisa then looked down at the engagement ring that Jennie had just rejected and chuckled to herself. She felt foolish for being so confident that Jennie would say yes. But then she realized that there were still many things that Jennie wanted to achieve before settling down with someone. Marrying Lisa would have prevented her from fulfilling her dreams.

Right?

Jennie's rejection completely took Rose and Alison aback, and they immediately ran out of the house to catch up with her. With her long legs, Rose was the first to reach Jennie, sitting on the sidewalk, looking completely distraught. As soon as Jennie looked up, she saw the expression of worry on Rose's face, and without saying anything, she stood up and hugged Rose tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Please... get me out of here," Jennie cried, barely able to speak.

Rose had a thousand questions to ask, but she knew that it was better to let Jennie calm down first. She called Alison and asked her to prepare the car and let Jisoo know where they were headed. Rose promised to text Jisoo once everything was settled.

As Rose and Jennie got into the car, Alison was about to enter the house and tell Jisoo what had happened when she was confronted by a bodyguard who had accompanied Jennie from the restaurant. The bodyguard wanted to tell her about the events that had taken place at the restaurant before Lisa had come to pick up Jennie.

Rose's hand instantly recoiled as she felt the scorching heat coming off Jennie's forehead. "Babe, you're burning up," she exclaimed with concern. "Should I call Alison or...?"

"No," Jennie interrupted her, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can I just lay here for a bit?"

"Of course, darling," Rose responded softly as she got up to fetch a glass of water.

Jennie and Rose had arrived at the hotel after a long, emotional car ride. The tears had come flooding out of Jennie the moment they had pulled out of the driveway, and she had cried herself to sleep with her head resting on Rose's shoulder.

"I brought you some Advil," Rose said as she returned to the room. "I told Alison you're here. Is that okay?"

Jennie nodded, but when Rose handed her the pills, she shook her head. "I don't want that. Can I just have a glass of wine?"

Rose hesitated. She wasn't sure that was the best idea, but seeing the look on Jennie's face, she relented. "Okay, but just one glass."

As Rose went to fetch the bottle of wine, Jennie's thoughts drifted back to the events of the day. She had just rejected Lisa's proposal, and the guilt was eating her up inside. How could she hurt her soulmate like this? Jennie cursed herself for being so foolish and causing so much pain.
