I'm such an idiot...

Marcus was sitting on the bed, tugging at his hair with his head bent.

Why did he decide to tell her this? Why not shut up and let the instincts guide him?

But no, he was so noble and always did things properly. He must always do the right thing. His voice in his head was mocking him, and he wanted to punch himself in the face. Of course, a woman like Regina won't want to have to deal with a virgin. She was passionate, always knew what she wanted, and here was he, who needed to google how to kiss properly. He smirked with frustration. What a loser.

He also desperately needed a release. Sexual energy and anger at himself were driving him to do something. He needed drums or better yet a good sparring partner so he would beat everything out of him. He thought about calling Kos and going to a gym, but it was past midnight, and he was probably asleep.

So instead he went to take a cold shower and then went to bed. A couple of times he got up to go to Regina, but then turned back.

If she said no, then she said no. He wouldn't be begging or trying to convince her otherwise. He must respect a woman's choice.

But he still couldn't understand why she didn't find him worthy enough without experience. She was flirting with him, answered his kisses, and then nothing.

Darius was right. After a couple of kisses, his feelings for her were deeper than simple sympathy. He needed to just continue to be a distant asshole, and everything would be fine.

His ego wouldn't be hurt, and his heart aching.

In the morning Marcus stomped into the twin room to grab his suit. He slept for only a couple of hours and was not in the mood to be like his usual self.

"Hey, sleeping beauty, how are you today?" Darius was cheerful as always, for what he wanted to punch him. But his tone turned worried next, "Hey, what's wrong?"

"Nothing," Marcus growled. "Where is my suit?"

Kos, fully dressed already, gave it to him, "Hi, here. What did she do?"

"I said nothing," he raised his voice, putting on clothes in jerking movements.

"Why are you like that then?" Darius threw up his arms in frustration.

"She did nothing, and that's the problem," Marcus said through clenched teeth.

Darius just rolled his eyes, not understanding or not wanting to go deeper into this conversation.

He heard Kos's words, "She refused you?"

He didn't answer, only continued to put on his jacket. Which was the answer on its own.

"Maybe it goes with a fact, that you're going to meet her father today and it would be awkward?" Kos continued his psychologist's session.

He didn't want to continue this conversation, but he answered, nonetheless, "In the beginning, she was very willing, but when she heard the truth, she went away," Marcus was putting with force his things inside of his pockets.

"What truth?" Darius and Kos asked simultaneously.

"That I'm a virgin, for Mars's sake!" he roared.

Kos and Darius looked at one another sheepishly, with Darius saying quietly, "Who's telling a girl you like, that you're a virgin?"

"Obviously I'm that fool," he barked in reply. "Come on, let's go."

Without another word, they went outside, and Marcus marched past Regina's room without stopping, "Take her. I'll be waiting by the car."

After a couple of minutes, he saw them coming to the car, and Marcus briefly glanced at Regina. Her hair was in a high ponytail, and she was wearing black slacks, a white blouse, and heels. She looked all business-like and amazing and almost not recognizable after he saw her in other clothes. But as always, she was beautiful. Longing for her sliced his heart, and he took a deep breath to ease the feeling. When he glanced at her face, he saw that her eyes were puffy and red. Was she crying all night? He wanted to ask her if she was okay but the hurt he felt stopped him. If she wasn't sleeping all night like him, it was her business. He shouldn't care at all.

But he still cared. He needed to stop torturing himself with thinking about what would have happened if he hadn't told her the truth about him. What was done is done. Last night was hard enough for him, and if he continues to overthink it, he won't be able to stop and it would lead to more pain and heartbreak.

When she went past him to her seat, she rasped quietly, "Good morning."

"Morning," was his curt response.

She picked up her phone and called someone.

"Hey, Dad. Are you at the Capitol?" she asked with a small smile. "Good, I'm not far, and I want you to meet someone. We could be there in half an hour, is it okay for you?"

Marcus heard her father replying but couldn't decipher what he said. He desperately hoped that President would meet them after. It's why they came to Earth in the first place, right? Not to dwell in unanswered feelings from the most gorgeous woman.

"Okay, see you soon," she put down her phone with a small smile,"Dad is waiting for us."

Marcus exhaled. At least something would go his way today.
