Chapter 15

Lucy's pov
"Okay I'm going to ask you the professional questions first then we can debrief and ask you the personal ones. Now the call you went to with Detective Lopez, the rape call, can you tell me the two phrases that the man said to her?" Grey asks.
"Erm yeah.. 'shut it' and 'good girl'"
"Are you sure about that?" Grey asks me.
"Yeah sir"
"Then how come in the report that detective Lopez wrote and the audio recording show that she told us that he said the following 'be quiet' and 'babygirl' not 'shut it' and 'good girl'"
I notice that Tim is looking very confused but also concerned.
Wait what does he mean. She said shut it and good girl. I know she did. I was there. I'm so confused by what he means.
"Sir I don't understand?"
He then plays the audio just as she says the sentence and she says 'be quiet and babygirl'.
My heart sinks. Fuck. I was thinking about the night before with Chris.
My leg starts shaking, I feel warm.
"Is there a reason why you was unable to tell me the correct information?" Grey asks.
"I'm sorry, I don't know"
"Lucy this isn't like you, you're normally on things like this." Angela says concerned.
"This isn't how you was when I was training you Lucy, is something going on?" Tim asked.
Fuck.
"What do you mean?"
"Well, I've been informed you keep saying you're tired, you're flinching a lot, been quiet, asked for Tim to be took off as your TO, failing to remember the correct information from a call the day before, you're struggling with rape calls making out to the detective Lopez that it was your first one and it wasn't so what's going on?" Grey says firmly but also concerned.
"Nothings going on"
"Lucy?" Tim says looking at me.
"Nothing is going on"
"We are here for you, we want to help you" Tim says.
"You can help me by dropping this.. look I'm sorry about how I've been recently. It's all my fault, I am just stressed with the job, moving in with Chris and now the engagement. I'll get better"
"Lucy?" Tim says.
"I mean it." I say looking at Grey "can I go?"
"Yes you may but any issues remember you've got people around you who care. " Grey says.
"No matter how hard it seems, we are here for you. We can help you" Angela says.
"No matter what it is we are here" Tim says.
"Look I'm fine okay, i appreciate the concern but please let this go" I say as I get up and leave the office. I head straight to the locker rooms.
I grab my phone and message Chris.
Lucy: hey it's all good, ive told them to give me space and to let it go.
Chris: what did they ask you?
Lucy: just asked what was said on this case yesterday but i remembered it wrong so then they said I was being off recently. I explained I was just stressed with the job and then our wedding planning that's all. You didn't get mentioned.
Chris: okay babe, we will get through this
Lucy: I know.
Chris: I love you I'm proud of you for not telling them. I will sort it.
Lucy: I love you too
Chris: can't wait to find out if you're going to be carrying our future soon
Lucy: yeah me too

Tim's pov
Lucy walks out and we all just look at each other.
"It's valid what she's saying but I think there is more to it" Angela says.
"There could be but we can't do anything unless she tells us or we see something. Try and be vigilant"Grey says.
"Who is she riding with today?" I ask
"Angela what do you think?" Grey asks.
"Let her ride with me today and we will see what happens going forward"
