XVII. LOVER'S ROCK

LACY AND PERCY walked towards the entrance of the amusement park which seemed abandoned and presumably where Ares left his shield. It was dark by now and the only lights visible were those from the rides.
Perch spoke as they continued walking, "I haven't seen a lot of horror movies, but this seems like exactly the kind of place they'd suggest to avoid."
"I haven't seen any horror movie. But then again we're on a tight schedule so we'll just have to take Ares word." answered Lacy.
Percy asked surprised, "You've never seen a horror movie?"
Lacy shrugged, "Nope."
"Well, if neither of us is dead in a few days, we can watch one. In the meantime though, we should probably get this over with." said Percy.
Lacy nodded as they reached the entrance's gate. It creaked as Percy opened it. He stepped inside looking around.
Lacy looked up, noticing many rusted motors begin to move, "Wait, Percy, stop."
As the sound of metal spinning began, Percy asked, "What's happening?"
Lacy thought fast, "Just hold still. Gimme a second." Her eyes scanned the gate, "There, that's Celestial bronze in the mechanism."
Percy spoke sarcastically, "Oh, fascinating! Lacy, what is happening right now?"
Lacy looked up at him, "Celestial bronze is what your sword is made of. If you're a human, it'll pass right through you. If you're a monster or a demigod.."
"Well, what's it doing there?" asked Percy.
"I don't think this is just some amusement park. A god built this." answered Lacy.
"What kind of god builds amusement parks?"
Lacy sighed, "Hephaestus."
"Why would Hephaestus build an amusement park?" asked Percy in response.
Lacy answered sarcastically, "I don't know, maybe he finds them amusing?"
Percy groaned, "Not really the time Lace."
She looked at the machine, "Could be? Oh, well look at that." They watched as the metal motors began spinning faster and louder.
