Madrid, Spain
Bowling Center

Valerie

I watched Blanca rolling one bowl after the other.
She was actually pretty good.
Gotta ask her when she's got the time to practice so hard.

When her round was over, she came over to the bar to take the empty seat next to me.

»Are you not having fun?«, she said almost out of breath.

I chuckled slightly.
»Yeah, no I do! I'm just not really a professional at bowling, you know.«
I tried to sound as convincing as possible.

Honestly, all I wanted to see was my bed that evening.

I studied the bottom of my glass for too long.

My sister looked back at the bowling line.
»It's my turn soon again.«, she smiled.

»At least one of us is having the time of their lives.« A small laugh escaped my lips as I gazed the three random guys my sister found around here and forced to play with us.

I gave up after two rounds.
Bowling just wasn't my thing.

At least not with strangers.

It made me feel uncomfortable.
But I didn't want to ruin Blanca's evening.
She seemed to have a lot of fun.

She returned my laugh.

And there she went. Away from to bar, attending her round personally.
She would never let the guys win.

The DJ's volumed up the music, making it more like a party than a bowling match.
But the songs were enjoyable. At least.

The room got warm, and loud.
Colorful lights shone above the bowling lines.

And I ordered another drink.

»Not much of a play-type, huh?«

My head went around.
To my surprise, I faced a young, blond haired guy.
His intrusive blue eyes were all over me.

»Uh, no, not really.«, I replied with a little smile.
I didn't want to be impolite.
Yet, I wished I could've just disappeared.

»There are always the ones that are forced here by friends, right?«
He tilted his head to a bowling line further across the room, where four other men were playing.

I followed his gaze.

»Ah.«

»And who dragged you here?«

»My sister, actually.«

I pointed to where Blanca was standing.

The man chuckled.
»I see.«

And the conversation was already dead.
How awkward.

But how does one escape such a situation?

I can't just excuse myself to go to the toilet, that's what every woman does. The guy would notice straight away.

It shouldn't bother me.
I didn't knew him anyways.
But still, a lady had her way.

I just wanted to speak up, when my words got stuck.
The songs switched.

It was just as if my brain shut down.
And my stomach rumored.

It was our song.

My head got all dizzy.
My heart ached.
I felt completely paralyzed on my chair.

»'Cause when you love someone...«
The man next me hummed along the lyrics.

And I felt the urge to throw up.
