Charles woke up the next morning by the sunlight hurting his eyes.
All his limbs hurt and felt heavy.
He really took that party seriously last night.

Many people were there. Even though Pierre said it was a small one, Charles couldn't count all of the guests.

He just straightened up when he felt a presence besides him.
He wanted to say good morning to his girlfriend, when he realized that Valerie wasn't here anymore.

Then he frowned.
Who laid in his bed?

Slowly, he turned to see her face.

The blood in his veins froze as he recognized her.

No, this can't be true.
What have I done?

He was just about to wake the woman up and tell her to leave when the door to the hotel room opened.

Charles froze. Not one muscle moving.
He sat in his bed, helpless of what to happen next.

The door opened slowly.
»I just need to get my...« A muffled voice followed by a little shadow hushed inside.

»Valerie..« Charles couldn't bring it any further.

She looked at Charles.
Then at the person next to him.

He followed her eyes.

»No, no! This is not what it looks like!«
He sat up straight in bed.

The woman that laid to his left had woken up by the noises.
She rose her head.

Valerie tensioned as she saw her face.

»You're sleeping with her?«, she gasped, her voice shivering through a silent sob.

»No! I could never! Please, let me explain.« He was about to get up but Valerie grabbed her bag and rushed out without looking back.

»Ah, merde
Charles looked after her. Anger rose inside of him.

Rebecca eyed him from the bed.
»Oopsie.«

»You shut up.«, Charles hissed and picked up her clothes from the floor.
He threw them at her. »Take this and leave, immediately!« With pointing out of the door.
Where Valerie just went off.

»Aren't we gonna talk about what happened last night?«, she asked innocently.

»Nothing happened!« Charles screamed.

»You sure about that?«

He quickly put some clothes on and left before she did.
How could he have let it gotten that far?
There was a race that weekend, how could he drink?

He couldn't even remember drinking.

But somehow he ended up there. With his worst nightmare.

How should he explain to Valerie?
He had no memories of the night or what had happened.

It shouldn't bother him, they weren't together anymore. But not because he didn't want to be with her. He couldn't.
But now,
She will never forgive him.

How could he sleep with Rebecca?

***

The first person he searched for at the paddock was Pierre. He had been there at the party. He had to know.

»Can we talk?«

His friend approached him, coming out of the garage.

»What is it? First practice is starting soon.«
He crossed his arms in front of his chest.
