33: I failed

"Shit! You didn't tell.me your sister was this loud."  I rolled my eyes mentally.
"I think I just lost my ears." Chloe remarked. She and Alec continued going back and forth about Britney in the mindlink.

"Britney. You have to calm down." I told her, whilst getting up.
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down." She spat. She still has a temper.

"Britney. We have guests." She registered my words and looked behind me where Chloe, Alex and Ryder were staring like deers caught in headlights.

"Fine. We will continue this discussion. Later." I nodded meekly. There was no way I could avoid it.
Britney turned to my group with a smile.
"Sorry for that outburst. Would you like anything to eat or drink?" They gaped at her quick personality change. They'll get used to it.

"Whatever you can give us." I answered for them. She nodded and proceeded into the kitchen. Almost as soon as she was out of sight, they erupted.
"Damn, Alexa. You should have told me to wear earplugs." Alec said.
"I didn't really expect her outburst but I figured she could do it because she is unpredictable so I came prepared".

I tucked my hair behind my ear and showed them the earplugs I put on.

"You are cruel." Alec whined. I giggled.
"It's payback for the time you all played that stupid prank." A couple of days ago, Alec, Chloe and Charlie stole all my ice cream and chocolate and hid them. I was in a desperate mood for them but I didn't find them so I wanted to order some. But to my dismay, my purse was missing too. And my credit card. It was a tough time for me.

"I gave Ryder too so you guys have served your punishment." Chloe frowned.
"Oh come on." She whined too. I secretly gave Ryder a high five. Mission successful. Britney came in carrying three plates of chocolate pie. She set all the three on front of Chloe, Alec and Ryder.
"What about mine?" She pointed to the kitchen.
"You know the way." She said and went back to the kitchen.
"Excuse me." I announced, following Britney.

As soon as I entered, Britney turned to me.
"The least you could have done was let me know." She had calmed down now.
"I know and I am sorry." I moved closer to her, but she jerked away.
I sighed again. Goddess know how many times I've done that today.

"Yeah right." Her voice was low, hurt.
"I'm sorry. Can you please forgive me?" Her tough exterior ebbed away, leaving behind hurt and sadness.
"I didn't know what to do. Mom and Dad weren't telling me anything. They hardly even said a word to me. I was left on my own. They didn't care."
"Oh sweetie." I spoke and embraced her. I calmly stroke my sister's brown hair and listened to her rant. I should have known. I should have thought about her. Britney may seem mature but she has a fragile mind and heart. She often suffers from an identity crisis and I always tried my best to be there when she needs someone up until now. I failed.
"It's not your fault, Alexa." Kylie whispered to me. I didn't believe her so I didn't reply. She looked up to me and I let her down. And she doesn't even know why.
"...and Alex stopped talking to me too. I was so alone and I still am."
"Shhhh. You are not alone anymore. I'm back now." She lifted her face to gaze at me.
"But you're going back to Italy soon and..." She trailed off. I did this. I made a mistake and this happened.
"Let's make the best of our time together. I promise you will never feel alone again." She nodded and retracted from my arms with a straight face.

"Do not speak of this moment ever again."
"Yes ma'am." I mock saluted.
"Grab your cake soldier. We have kept our guests waiting for far too long." She commanded and I obeyed. We marched off to the living room with my cake in hand.

Pictures of Alexandra Black and her little entourage scattered across my desk. Shit!!! How didn't I know that she was going to bring that wretched Alpha along?

"Alpha."
"What is it, Dave?!" I snapped.
"Isn't this a better opportunity for us? We can take down our enemies at once." I laughed cynically.
"Dave, but you are naive. That Alpha will have brought reinforcements. This cuts down our success rate by half!" He shrunk down in shame.

"I apologise, Alpha for not seeing ahead. Please punish me." I turned back towards the pictures.
"Not now. Monitor those pesky wolves and bring back updates."
"Yes, Alpha." I turned back only to still see him standing there.
"What are you still waiting for?! Leave my sight!" He scurried away immediately. Pesky wolves.

Now what do we do about Alexa? I trailed her face in one of the pictures with my finger.

"Soon, my darling. You will soon be mine."

Stalker alert!! Seriously this guy is dreaming if he thinks Ryder will give Alexa up without a fight. Like hell yeah!!

Sorry for the late update. I thought I had already published the chapter then I just realized I didn't.
Anyways, how are my peeps doing today? Do y'all miss me? School has resumed! Yay!!! I'm jumping with joy right now.

I literally don't know where Mateless is going anymore. It's like the book writes itself. It should end around October? I guess? Not many chapters left tho. I'm just being pessimistic as usual.

This book is going to undergo serious editing. Im cringing at myself 2 years ago. LMAO.(ノಠ益ಠ)ノ If i could just go back in time, imma slap myself. Lots of love y'all.

I love every last one of y'all (Guess who said that) That is the question of the day. If anyone gets it right, I will upload a double chapter. And dedicate it.

PS: Can anyone teach me how to dedicate a chapter? Please.
