2: I don't have a mate

I woke up to white walls and beeping of machines. I tried to move my hands but they were hooked to some kind of machines.
How did I get here? I ran through my head searching for an explanation on how and why I got here. Then it all came back. My mate was... Oh no. Moon Goddess why? How could my mate be Brian? Brian was Julia's sister and the future alpha of Deep Forest Pack, my pack. But that isn't my problem. My problem is the fact that Brian has a girlfriend. An extremely pretty who is also my friend. Ashley.
"You don't have to worry about that." Kylie told me.
"How do you know?"
"Skylar told me." She said sheepishly.
"Skylar?"
"Brian's wolf."
"When?" I asked.
"When you were asleep."She said blushing slightly. Since when did Kylie blush? Since when did she start acting like a girl? Also why was she having conversations while I was asleep? The door cracked open slightly and my dad's head popped in.
"Can I come in?"
"Of course, Dad." Dad walked in and sat on my bed. I sat up and faced him.
"Everyone is outside. do you want them to come in?" I shook my head. I don't want to face them right now.
"Alright then, dear. Do you want to talk about it?" Normally I wouldn't but I knew he needed an explanation.
"It's Brian." He understood my words.
"He obviously won't leave his girlfriend for me." My dad shook his head.
"What makes you think that?" I frowned.
"I don't know. He really loves her."
"But he loves you more." I really wish that were true. So much for my happy ending.
"You are made for him. You are his chosen one." But he can still reject me. I wanted to voice out but I didn't want to trouble Dad. He already had enough on his plate. I just nodded and watched him leave. I heard his voice telling the others that I was asleep.

A little while after Dad left, my phone rang. Julia. Why wasn't she here anyway?
"Hello."
"Oh My Goddess, are you okay?" Her worried voice came through the phone.
"I'm fine. Where are you?" She hesitated a bit before answering.
"I'm with...Brian.". My breath hitched at his name.
"He is sulking in his room. I'm sorry Alex, that I can't be with you." I cracked a small smile.
"It's fine. I-" I was cut off by Julia's shriek.
"He has left his room. He is...." She paused and I heard the pitter-patter of feet.
"He is on his-" The line went dead. What had happened? I didn't have much time to mull over it because I heard someone running towards my room.

The door burst open and I didn't even have time to react before I was thrown off the bed. The wires hooked to my body were violently yanked off. I saw Brian.
"What-" He didn't let me talk before grabbing my neck in a chokehold. My body dangled in the air and my mate threw me up against the wall. My throat was clogged and I gasped for air. Dark spots threatened my vision and I was on the verge of passing out.
" I don't want you. I don't need you. Always know that I will never love you."
Tears spilled out of my eyes and the fact that he was my mate made the pain all the more worse.

At the last minute, someone pried Brian off me. From the corner of my eye, I saw Julia walk away from Brian and kneel beside my fragile body.
"I'm sorry I came so late. Alex, please stay awake." I faintly registered the doctor coming to check up on my bruised body.
His words were stuck in my head.
"Always know that I will never love you."

And I submitted to the darkness.
