20: Alec Again

Know you're wondering why I'm calling
Like I've got ulterior motives
Know we didn't end this so good
But we had something so good
So I'm wondering
Can we still be friends?
Doesn't have to end
If it ends, can we still be friends?

I rounded the tables and served the last customer. My eyes moved to my watch. One minute left. I went to the backroom to grab my jacket, drop my apron and tell the others that my shift is over.

"Hey, Chloe, I'm going to head out now." Chloe nodded. Chloe was the first person I had talked to in the coffee shop and we hit it off almost immediately. The brown eyed blonde was fun, easygoing, smart and beautiful. She understands me and loves me just the way I am. Did I also mention that she was werewolf? The perfect package.

"Darling, we are going to a party, remember?" She reminded me.
"Oh shit, I totally forgot."
"No worries, I will pick you up at 8." I smiled at her.
"What's the dress code?"
"You know what, we will both get ready at my place. So I'll pick you up by 6 pm instead." She decided.
It was better if I got ready to her place. She has more knowledge of make up than I do and I get to see her house for the first time.

I grabbed my purse from the counter and said goodbye. I headed for the back door.
"Don't be late." She shouted after me. I only chuckled and opened the door. The cold air hit me full force. Yes, werewolves don't feel that much cold but this was off the charts. No wonder the humans wore layers of clothing. I pulled my jacket tighter and strolled along the street. I'm going to find another job to support me and then maybe I can leave the coffee shop. I had a strong urge to go back to the warmth of my house and research online instead. I eventually submitted and hailed a cab to go back to my residence.

I was halfway there when my phone rang. Alec. No problem. A wicked smile spread across my face as I picked the call.
"Hello?"
"Uhhh...." He obviously didn't expect me to pick the call.
"I don't speak gibberish." He cleared his throat.
"Can we meet up sometime?" I scoffed.
"So you can rape me?" I asked sarcastically.
"What? No! Why would you think that?" He was quick to defend himself.
"I don't know maybe because you can't control your libido." I bit back.
He groaned.
"Please can we just meet up?" I took a minute to think about it. Perhaps we could talk about everything going on.
"Alright then. We'll meet at Cool Latte. 3 pm. Don't be late."
"Thank you. I promise I won't waste your time." I hung up after that. Just then, the cab stopped at my home.

I quickly got out, paid the cab man, and literally ran into the house.
"Oh, the heat!" I exclaimed. It was so hot that I forced my clothes off and was left on my underwear. I rushed to the kitchen to make my hot chocolate.

Once it was all done, I dragged my butt to the my room with my hot chocolate in hand. I plopped down on my bed and cross-legged.  My hot chocolate in hand and laptop on my lap.

Time passed very quickly and before I knew, it was time to get ready for my meeting with Alec. I had dropped about 5 applications and I hope to get replied by at least one latest by tomorrow.  I deliberately chose my workplace so I could be on a familiar environment. Italy was a great sight to behold but I have been too busy figuring out my life that I forgot to enjoy it.

I didn't want to come out as trying to impress so I chose a very simple outfit. A blue thick long sleeve blouse, a pair of black tights,a black jacket and a pair of black boots. Just yesterday, we were bathing in the warmth of summer but now winter has taken its course. It will probably snow this week. I stuffed my phone and a couple of bills in my purse.

It was a quick ride from my house to my workplace. Chloe would be so surprised to see me back again after leaving only three hours ago.

I entered the coffee shop and my heart jumped to my throat at the sight I saw before me. It didn't make any sense. How exactly did it happen?

"Ryder?" I called unsurely. How were my two mates—Ryder and Alec— in the same place? What was Ryder even doing here in the first place?

Another update! I kept my promise. I hope I made you all happy because you surely made me happy.

Alec wants to make up but will it go the way he plans? Especially with Ryder's appearance? Find out in the next chapter.
