If It Makes You Happy

Chapter 15

*Lauren's Flashback*

"I really hate this cheerleading outfit" Camila said looking at her reflection in her mirror.

"I think it looks pretty" I said drawing a monkey in my sketchbook.

Camila groaned. "I look like a hooker" Camila said.

"I'm not sure what that is" I said still paying attention to my drawing.

"I'm just nervous that no one will like me" Camila said.

"That's okay a lot of people don't like me" I said.

"Lolo, this is middle school now so I'm going to have to make an impression and you should too" Camila said.

"I tried to but they just don't like me" I said sketching the eye of the monkey drawing.

"Well I like you" Camila said sitting down next to me on her bed.

"I know and so does Mani" I said.

"You're still friends with her?" Camila asked.

"Yes," I said.

"What are you drawing in that book?" Camila asked.

"It's a secret" I said.

"No it's not. It's just basically a book of all of your drawings" Camila said.

"I don't want you to see it" I said when Camila reached out for the book and I quickly closed it and put it to my chest.

"You let Natasha see them" Camila said.

"Because she always finished them" I said.

"I can help you finish them now" Camila said.

"I don't want you to. You aren't as good as her" I said.

"How do you know? You won't even give me a chance" Camila said.

"It was our thing" I said.

"That's stupid because now your drawings are going to be shit since she's never coming back" Camila said.

"You don't know that" I said.

"Yes I do now Lolo let me see" Camila said reaching for my sketchbook and trying to pry it out of my fingers.

"No," I shouted at her so loud that Sinu came into Camila's room.

"What are you two doing?" Sinu asked.

"Lolo won't let me look at her drawings" Camila said.

"Camila, you can't do something without someone's permission" Sinu said.

"But it's Lolo. She lets me do whatever I want as long as it makes me happy" Camila said.

Sinu looked at me and I quickly looked away from her.

"It's an invasion of her privacy" Sinu said.

"No it's not" Camila said.

"Come on Lauren it's getting late. I need to take you home" Sinu said.

I got up from Camila's bed and walked out of her room into the hallway where I heard Camila and Sinu talking.

"I'm coming along with you to drop off Lauren" Camila said.

"No you will not be going" Sinu said.

"Why not?" Camila asked.

"Karla Camila Cabello, I raised you better than the way you treat that girl" Sinu said.
