April 4th, 2017:

We'd been rehearsing all day and I'd managed to convince the manager to let me go for dinner with Jieun (IU) since it'd been so long since we'd met and tried the whole she's a "sunbaenim" and I couldn't turn her down schtick. I'd only told Jimin the truth that it was dinner with Jongin and not Jieun given Jongin was probably going to tell him anyway. I didn't want to tell the others because I didn't want to get their reprimand or doubtful comments or disappointed faces.

We had agreed to meet at his sister's place for privacy. Her now husband was away for work, and she'd agreed to go out for the evening. I got there at 20:10, ten minutes late because it had taken me a bit to adjust the seat and mirror and overall get to know how to drive Yoona's car. I was wearing dark-washed jeans with several buttons down the front, a white long-sleeve V-neck, and a dark green sweater. I'd added a black baseball cap and mask to hide my identity.

I knocked on the familiar door of the apartment we'd had our first real date. I'd agreed to this location because of its privacy and familiarity, but if he was trying to rekindle the past, and make me emotional and nostalgic, he was going to have to try harder.

"Hi," I smiled, wanting to go into this positively, when he opened the door.

"Hi!" he beamed, stepping aside to let me in.

"Something smells good," I say, smelling something cooking as I took off my shoes.

"Yeah... I wanted to cook something, but I didn't have the time–" he starts to explain.

"Or the know-how," I chuckle walking over to the pot, "you were never a talented chef".

"So, my mom made s some kimchi stew," he rolls his eyes at my comment, "thought you might enjoy some Korean food after being on tour for so long".

"Oh, that's so sweet of her," I smile, looking into the boiling pot of stew. It did look delicious.

"I also ordered some chicken," he adds, gesturing to the kitchen table that had two boxes of chicken on it along with two bowls and chopsticks, and spoons.

"Wow, what is this? A date?" I chuckle sarcastically, going to sit down in one of the chairs.

"Just being hospitable," he sighs, ladling some stew.

"So, what have you been up to?" I question, thanking him for the bowl.

"Been doing a lot of variety shows, been trying to work on my own songs," he reveals.

"Ooo, how's that going?" I ask, genuinely curious.

"Not well," he laughs, "I don't have your talent".

"If you talked to Yoongi oppa, I still have a lot of work to do to be considered good," I laugh dryly.

"Well then my work is probably practically unlistenable if your stuff isn't good," he chuckles sitting down.
