CATHERINA

"My papa will be waiting for you in his den" I said, gulping as I faced the rogue who had an eyebrow quirked up and observing me with amusement again.

"Will he?" he murmured coming around to where I stood.

I held my ground, glaring at him... I wasn't going to flee because of this dangerous man and I sure as hell was not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing that he affected me so.

He stopped in front of me, watching my face.

I kept my eyes on his, making sure to glare to show him I wasn't scared and I did not like his presence in our house all the time.

"You are blocking the television" he whispered.

"Oh" I answered and moved so he could get a better view but his eyes followed me instead, his gaze intense on the side of my face.

I did not spare him a glance as my gaze remained on the TV but I could feel his gaze on my face and so I braved a question

"I heard about your warehouse" I blurted, smirking.

"Careful, little bird" His words were low and teased my senses.

"I am no bird" I protested, warmth spilling into my chest.

I was toying with him and his misfortune and although I knew how dangerous that was, I wanted to do it again and again.

"Did you come over to my house to watch some TV" I snapped, making a grab for the remote control in his hand.

He anticipated my movement and just like that, he moved, pulling me into an embrace with my back to his front and my heart beating wildly in my chest.

"What are you doing?" I snapped but could not stop the delicious tremor that snaked up my spine to settle in the center of my legs.

if my papa were to see us right now, what would he say or think? I thought as I tried desperately to free myself, it was useless.

"I am beginning to wonder as to your hatred of me" He whispered for my ears alone

"You almost killed me" I grunted, still struggling in his arms.

"I saved you, my uncle was about to kill you and he was saying rude things."

"Rude things" I echoed, willing my body not to lean farther into his... the heat was compelling.

"He should not have said such things to you." He murmured, his eyes straying to my parted lips.

"Let go of me this instant." I breathed, not trusting myself to speak.
