Chapter three

Timeskip to final year at beacon

Me and team STRQ are on a mission to help protect a village from Grimm and possible bandits so far it had been going good

Summer: man it's sooo boring here I can't stand it here
Raven: it doesn't matter we are here to help protect the people
Tai: raven is right summer it doesn't matter we should focus on protecting the innocent in this village because that's what huntsmen do; put others before their own needs or wants
Summer: I know it's just so booooooooriiiiiiiing
Me and qrow: agreed
Qrow: and I can't even drink because we are taking this seriously
Tai: you should never drink on any job not matter how serious
Raven: he does have a point qrow
Qrow: whatever I'll do what I want to do

Almost immediately after qrow said that a giant roar is heard I look over the walls and see a giant horde of all types of Grimm some I haven't seen before almost as if they somehow where just popped into existence this morning

Summer: everyone sound the alarm we are to protect this village at all costs

Me and raven help defend the south side from the mass of grim I jump directly into the grim and start cutting them down by swinging my scythe fast and efficiently
During this raven also jumps in slashing her katana with great effect
We eventually get back to back to help deal with the grim, but some get past us and break down the wall and start to attack the civilians which causes me to immediately rush over and dispatch the grim, once done with eliminating the grim I look over and see the sight of a young girl in a pool of blood slowly fading away I hold her that she was going to be fine and that she would make it through this to comfort her as she passes away; I thought of taking her to the village doctor but she has lost too much blood and picking her up would just cause her pain in her last moments.
She slowly goes limp and doesn't respond to me anymore, I feel her pulse to confirm she has passed away once I don't feel any pulse I close her eyes. I start to carry her back to the village center in tears and sadness from my failure as a huntsman to save the innocent from the beasts of grim.

Summer: y/n it's not your fault

Yes it is I could have been faster stronger better, I could have saved her
Summer: no you couldn't there were too many grim
YES I COULD HA—
*Tai slaps me in the face hard*
Tai: get ahold of yourself you couldn't have saved her there were too many grim, Although I hate to say it death is something we have to accept as huntsmen it's just apart of the job

Tai: no problem just don't let it get to you we did the best we could

Time skip two months
I blamed myself for the death of the girl and I started to spiral into a depression because of it my sister and her team tried to help but it just wasn't enough I can't deal with it

*KNOCK KNOCK
I open the door to see raven
Raven: hey y/n are you ok?

Me? No I'm not I just can't get it out of my head the scene replays again and again of the little girl dieing I can't deal with it

Raven: Maybe you need people maybe a person who could care for you and take care of you

And who would that be? I'm unlovable I'm not strong if I was I could have saved that little girl but I wasn't strong—

raven kisses me on my lips

Raven: maybe that someone could be me?

I'm sorry raven I don't think it would be good for you I'm not meant to be loved I couldn't even do my job to save that little girl, just leave me alone please

Raven: oh ok then
She slowly leaves the room with tears in her eyes

Timeskip two hours

*KNOCK KNOCK*
Raven please go away
Summer: I'm not raven I just want to talk
I open the door and let her in
Summer: you broke her heart you know that?
