The Pandavas and Evi continued their travel to Panchal. She could feel the difference in air as they went from depths of wild to forests guarded by humans.

Arjun started narrating to Evi how he won against Panchalraj and gave half of the kingdom to his Acharya's son Aswathama just when they all came out to a clearing.

In a second Yudhishthir screamed "watch out!" but it was too late. As Evi recovered she saw that they all had fell into a very deep pit.

"Seems like a Hunter's pit" Bheem said while the others agreed. But Sahadev was a bit skeptical.

"No Bhrata, the cover up was too real. It was by some demon"

"Demons hunting like humans?"

"Maybe they evolved?" Evi spoke making everyone turn to her. What she said was never seen but that didn't mean it couldn't be true.

"Maybe. Living in the periphery of the forest will lead them to observe humans hunting. They probably learned from that" Nakul concluded making everyone tense up and look for ways to crawl out the pit.

"This pit is weirdly deep" Bheem whined. "And the mud is too wet. We cannot crawl out or jump out. One of us need to climb via a human ladder-"

Evi waited for the group to come to a conclusion. She could easily jump out but again, what was the need. It was not like they were under attack-

"I smell demons" Bheem said alerting everyone. "If we stay here, we are just easy prey"

"We are surrounded. We cannot climb out and run either" Nakul warned.

"Don't worry, my arrows will protect us" Arjun assured.

"No! Mata can get hurt" Yudhishthir stopped Arjun and tried to come up with a plan.

"How many do you think are there?" Evi asked, breaking Yudhishthir's thought.

"A bunch" Bheem said. "But with their foot steps they sound small but numerous. Atleast hundred. Why are there so many demons?"

"Ok" Evi stretched a bit. "Move over a bit please. Just make a bit of a space" She moved the group to the sides and stood in the center.

"What are you trying to do miss Devika?" Yudhishthir asked albeit a bit annoyed. He was tired from getting favours he cannot repay.

Evi sensing his anger said "don't worry Rajkumar. I am not someone to keep tabs. And I don't follow dharma like you so don't feel pressured to repay me back"

Saying this she jumped and did half a back flip. As her palm faced the ground, she activated her palm repulsor and shot it. The recoil impact was large enough to send her beyond the surface level of the ground in a second.

As she hovered for a moment, she observed the sheer amount of tiny demons encroaching the pit. They looked as if a colony of lizards were scavenging up a dead rat. "Ew" Evi scrunched up her nose.

She created a barrier at the opening of the pit so that no demon could enter it. Standing on the barrier, she barricaded a shower of bullets onto the incoming attack. To say that it made her feel nostalgic would be wrong, because it made her feel comfortable. After more than a month she was atlast using her weapons, CONSCIOUSLY.

Soon all the demons lied dead in the field. Evi looked around to think up of a plan to clear them out just when she got an idea.

"Hridasur!" She called him, and he jumped out of her shadow and kneeled in front of her

"Yes my queen" He said, still bowing and not noticing the massacre.

"You guys do cannibalise right?"

Hridasur nodded and Evi smiled in relief. Because the scenery was not as family friendly she wanted it to be. Any human or demon coming across the field would surely think there's a bigger enemy roaming around and that was the last thing she wanted to happen.
